Fecking magnetic tank bags

the magnet picked up some little fecking bits of metal, which scratched my tank in on point its gone all the way threw the paintwork argh
twatbag.

So how do i stop it rusting and can i get a touch up pen ? Ive covered it in wd40.

Ive only had the bike a week and have already fucked something up.

Does anything like this happen to anyone else or is it just me ?

You are supposed to LIFT and not pull the magnets on tank bags...

in future you can just use a thin rag on the magnet and keep it between the tank and the magnets.

Oh and store your tank bag , upside down too.

My Oxford Humpback tankbag has a clip that holds the magnetic 'wings' closed shut underneath the bag when not in use. This stops them picking up most of the grit etc, but i always make sure i dust the bottom off before i put it on.
TBH, i hardly ever use it as a tankbag anymore as it gets in the way quite a bit i feel; stops me tucking in etc.
I bought the tailpack conversion jobby, and the magnetic lower tankbag section zips off and has a natty map holder underneath - dead handy and well thought out IMHO.

T-cut works by removing a fine layer of paint with each application.

If you can see metal, and you try and solve this by application of T-Cut alone, you will eventually see a lot more metal.

Try a touch-up pen first.

My bikes tank is totally scratched to death. Fucking tank bag. I dunno where is picks up all the shyte either.

It may sounds like a reall pain in the arse, and lot of hard work to save your expensive, painted, fuel tank, but how about not putting the bottom of the tankbag on the floor, and brushing it before putting it on, making sure visually there is nothing on it. Same goes for making sure the tank is clean too. I've used the same Oxford magnetic tankbag on my bikes for 6years and i've never had a single scratch off it.

I never had problems with my Oxford humpback tank bag.

I've got a plastic tank now though, so it's back pack all the way. Much nicer than a tank bag.
