It's a long story how I did it but I think I have damaged a nerve in my hand.
After Friday night, if looking at the palm of my hand, the left edge was numb from the bottom of my hand to the tip of my little finger.
Since then I can feel everything apart from the left side of the tip of my finger.
If I tap the bottom of my palm it feels like someone is tapping my finger.
Will this ever be normal again or have a permanently damaged my nerve?

I've had problems similar to this from stunt riding where I use 1 finger on the clutch and 1 finger on the handbrake.. where I'm riding so much I done something to the nerves and my whole middle finger went completely numb like pins and needles sort of but semi-permenant.. I went to hospital cos I thought I'd fractured it, but it was fine they said trapped/damaged nerve nothing can do about it.... I stopped riding for a while and after a good few weeks it returned to normal.. so hopfeully with time your finger will regain feeling..... if in doubt, go see your GP though.

You've probably trapped a nerve in your neck/shoulder. I had the same symptoms last year after a prolonged blast on the bike with no screen, and shortly lost the feeling in the first two fingers of my left hand. After a few weeks I gave in and went to a chiropractor, who sorted it out for me.

That's good news sort of.

I'm not seeing my GP because if it's permanent, then it's permanent.
It's only the tip of my little finger. I can steel feel things on it and feel pain (I bit it to test). It's not much of a problem really, just wondering.
I can live with my dodgy finger if I have to.

Are you determined to be a martyr or do you want it fixed? If you actually want it fixed then go see someone who can effectively diagnose the problem and set about sorting it out.

Most of the time if a trapped nerve is located and manipulated inside a few weeks of the onset of the problem then it will result in no lasting damage. You're highly unlikely to have severed anything unless there's a lot more to the story than you've made apparent, so it's going to be some form of impact trauma which means it's either a temporary problem caused by a deep bruise and swollen soft tissues or you've knocked something astray.

A trapped nerve is treatable and recovery can be 100%. If you leave it, the nerve endings will start to die due to lack of blood then it will be irreversable. By the way it may well get better or worse. If it get sworse expect this: Numb fingers first, dropping things, pain in the arm, pain in the shoulder followed by pain in the neck. This pain is called refered pain and comes from the nerve being pinched in the spine. It a fucker when its bad Sad

It didn't just go suddenly numb. I was leaning on my hand and most of the pressure was on the centre of it and, that's when the edge of my hand went numb. I can feel a lot more now since I first posted.

A nerve grows a millimeter every month so it could take it a while to repair, why not get it confirmed in the mean time? Incase it turns out more serious.
