Not sure who but somebody suggested a few months back about having stickers on helmets telling passers by after an accident not to remove the helmet of a rider.

My Grandad was the only witness to a bike crash. Rider was chocking by the strap because his helmet was slightly too big and had pulled up a bit. He was stuck under the bike aswell so could have been a hell of alot worse if my Grandad wasn't there to undo his strap.

Also, my natural reaction would be to take someones lid off. Not sure why though

The day i turned 16 i was out on my bike for the 1st time,after being out about an hour i saw a lad i knew on his kwak 1000 going the opposite direction i looked in my mirror and saw him hit an escort head on,before i got back to him some t*at had taken his helmet off only too spill his brains all over the road.

The examiner I had for my test had stickers on his saying in the event of a crash do not remove unless trained to do so.

But then again if a general person saw that, they might think that you can't open a visor, get some fresh air and check stuff, so you might be stuffed anyway.

xvwannabe, sad news dude, but would it have made any difference if they had left it on? Probably not

busapaul, exactly. I'm in some trouble at the moment with my lids at the moment. Having conflict between wearing a full-face Bieffe which is about an inch too big or a Takatchi half-face that fits. Fairly high speeds and half-face helmets are not the best either, better than having a lid that is too big though I suppose.

can you not get a new inside for the Bieffe a lot of lids these days can go up or down a size just by changing the inerds

I'm not a particularly fast rider, I'd like to think I am more of a sensible rider. Came off at 30 with it on, head did not hit the floor lucky enough.

My recent off the first thing I did was lid off as soon as I could move, but there is no way I'd have some stranger heaving it off. Good idea the stickers.

Where do you stick them though? I guess the visor is out of the question as will prevent peripheral view.

Am I wrong in saying sticking decals to your helmet, the glue can affect the helmets properties? (what I heard a while back, not sure if true) Same goes for painting your helmet is it not?

One on each side of the helmet I presume. That way, there is always one visible whatever way you land.

Come on, with the lacquers they use and common stickers adhesives they'd be fine. Just stick em on. I stuck rim tape round my lid to be seen better in dark(which worked) and weren't worried about damaging no bloomin properties....................

You would be surprised how many people will try & take your lid off.
I had my crash , was lying in the road, my neck & back were extremely sore. I was lying still until paramedics arrived when some random guy tried to take my lid off
Unfortunately for him, he got a mouthful, telling him that while I was still swearing at him leave it alone, if I stopped swearing, then feel free to remove it as I was probably not breathing. Stupid guy tried telling me that I would be more comfortable with it off. Another verbal attack from me telling him that my lid & I had done 000's of miles together, I was quite comfortable with it on my head.

Luckily he listened to me & paramedics removed it when they knew it was safe to do so
