Bandit De-restriction

Hi,

I`v de-restricted my Bandit the day before yesterday. This was my first big bike (and I thought it was fast restricted...how ni-evve of me)

Anyway, I took it for a test around the block, and jeez it`s fast (for me!) My first ride on a bike bigger than 33bhp.

In reviews I have read, The Bandit is seen as being a 'Slow' 600 bike. My question is how does acceleration compare to other 600's in similar classes. i.e Hornets, CBR6's ect.

600cc on this seems plently for me at the moment! The feeling of endless acceleration was amazing, and before you know where you are your upto... 77mph Rolling Eyes

it is fairly slow untill you hit 7000 rpm, but the wee bandit will keep up with most older 600's the soft suspension lets them down a bit, but they are a comfy able bike, Thumbs Up

I cant wait to have my first go on an inline 4, only had big singles so far. Just be careful if your on a restricted lisence ya? Thumbs Up

It depends more so on the rider than the bike itself. The suspension does let them down as hmmmnz says but I have a mate who does trackdays on his with a better suspension set up and he is more than capable of keeping with, and leaving behind newer 600cc sports bike with lesser experienced riders on them.

Keep it high in the rev range and it will fly along. Combined with a better suspension set up and once you have gained more experience then you will be able to happily keep up with novices on bigger bikes too Thumbs Up

Having gone from a bandit to a gixxer 600, I must say the gixxer accelerates a lot faster in the higher gears.

In the lower ones it's not really all that different, because you're limited more by the wheel-base and the amount of acceleration it can handle before the front wheel starts to lift.

When cruising about 80mph on the bandit if you crack the throttle wide open you won't accelerate very quickly.

Whereas on the gixxer, sitting at 80, crack it open and you'll be doing 100+ within the blink of an eye.

In other words the bandit gets very wheezy in the higher gears.

I loved that feeling of "OH FUCK!" when you first derestrict a bike. Sadly I'll never get that feeling again Sad
