Im sitting here right now, bored to hell with two broken bikes, itching to get out and ride.

The TLR burst its forks in Cartegena, it also blew a clutch gasket and appears to have fried its immobilser, also needs a good service.
Its still in track clothes and i really am not looking forward to putting it back together.

Also need to get a new MOT, Tax, Rear tyre and get the carb sorted on the DRZ.

Arrow Forks £100 (min)
Arrow immobilser removal (£30)
Arrow Clutch gasket £3 (but annoying)
Arrow Oil and filter £30
Arrow MOT £27
Arrow Tax £30
Arrow Rear Tyre £50
Arrow Carb Sorted £100 (min)

Agreed, but with money x2. At least my gas gas works, but my RGV still needs finishing and the blade is in a state.

It's a shit when the motivations lost. I really recommend you start doing some work, it doesn't take a lot to get back into it. Thumbs Up

I had to strip and clean calipers, never done it before, wish i had just got stuck in. Wasn't too bad.

Recently….

Arrow Part worn tyre puncture (annoying)
Arrow New tyre had about 2-330 miles left, got a puncture (really annoying)
Arrow New tyre and fitting £100
Arrow Will need a front tyre next month
Arrow Need a new mudguard (£70-80)
Arrow New pads (£40)
Arrow Need pads for back now’ish
Arrow Found scratches on my petrol tank I hadn’t noticed, don’t like it
Arrow Consumables (£50)
Arrow LED indicators (£20)
Arrow Screen (didn’t like it, sold it, lost money)
arrow: Need another screen

Yada yada yada

Good luck with the work Wave Thumbs Up

Why do bikes seem so much more unreliable than cars? I swear car drivers aren't always having to maintain their cars as much as we have to maintain our bikes!

Is it because they are ragged loads, quickly going up the gears etc, whereas a car might experience a much more genteel life?

On a more positive note, last 10,000 miles-

Arrow CB-1 - Carb Service Free (just needed cleaning all the gunk out)
Arrow CB-1 - Starter Relay melted £5 to completely rewire
Arrow VFR800 - New Rear Tyre £90 inc fitting
Arrow VFR800 - Oil / Filter Change - £20

So all in all, £115 for 2 bikes for a combined 10,000 miles. Very Happy And for bragging about it something will probably go horribly wrong Sad

This month I have been mostly been spending my money on:

An Akrapovic exhaust - £140 (Tarty/safety feature)
An Exhaust Hanger - £15 (Tarty/maintenance item)
Brake Pads - £30 (Front)

In conclusion. Buy a reliable, well built bike, avoid any unecessary "modifications" (unless for an ornament destined one day to grace your living room), and ride.

I *tried* to avoid the unneccesary modifications I've done, but because it isn't an ornament, I rode it.

I'm actually really enjoying my 1000 at the moment.

It need nothing, except some new rubber.

But I dislike my gear.

Its battered and needs replacing and I hate wearing it, I have a few leather jackets but I they don't match the bike and I am a tart. Laughing

And I miss riding with my mates.
