depends really easiest way is to buy the wiring from a dealer and fit it your self no need to start soldering wires yourself or you could strip out all the wiring loom together lay it out in from of you and then using that and the wiring diagram in the manual but the wire and connectors from a motorparts shop and build a new loom yourself being careful to not cross any wires and use the right connector blocks.

or the third option is if its a section of a wire that has broken just use some bullet connectors or wire joiners to connect it back up.

fourth option is to source a wiring loom from a breakers
and fifth is to send it to the dealer and have them replace it so over all an exact price is hard to give i'd suggest ringing around the dealers for a price for them to do it or supply it ring a breakers for one and if you want to do it yourself them its just the price of the wiring and connectors

Try looking on fleabay for Gilera DNA 50 Loom. Rolling Eyes

Clicky

A whole loom is a bit drastic unless it's been on fire.

Yeah your best bet if you aren't that familiar with wiring is to buy wire separately and replace it piece by piece.

If you buy a whole new wiring loom, you have the problem of finding how to route it all. Sure you can sticky tape what you are taking out and fit the loom piece by piece too but as I said, if you are new to this it might be a tad daunting and not something you'd want to really fuck up.

What exactly is the problem anyway?

Do you have problems or has the bike suffered fire damage etc?

The DNA does have a seperate front loom so you can replace the clock and handlebar wiring seperately if the faults up front... it just plugs in above the petrol tank...

I was just wondering as i have seen a gilera dna 50 stolen/recovered for 99pounds and the advert says it needs wiring sorted out and that it has a few pieces missing, but the engine works.
Is it worth it (i think so but wanted to make sure wiring wasnt going to cost too much)

As it doesnt say the engine is good, i wouldnt bother...

"Does not go"

"Engine turns and has good compression"

That doesnt mean the engine is good, just that it turns over and has some compression, it couldve still been heat siezed, could have a knackered crank etc etc... from how it sounds its a complete heap. If cheap enough it could be a project but you would really need to know what your doing with one, if not it could end up an expensive mistake.

Not running, no paperwork, god knows what damage to bodywork....

As the add says OK for parts or a project if you have some money to spare and plenty of time.

Might be worth a look at, price some bits up on ebay and see if you can make a few pounds on parts

I'd worry more about what happened to the bike when it was ragged around a field or whatever. Was it run on little or no oil/no petrol?

Those are the kind of things that end up making it a massive project, when the engine has gone past its best because of poor maintenance. Who knows it could of been someones toy for a few months sitting in their shed and being brought out now and then, and then left in the corner of an alley when it won't start anymore.

Though engines probably don't go for that much for that kind of thing, you could probably get it up and running fine for not too much cash but do you have the time?

Well i got plenty of time i got about 3 months till i do my cbt. Trouble is collecting it as i only just realised in isn't in london but on the kent coast, 65 miles away.

I think i am just going to leave it, save up and buy a better bike as it looks like too much hassle to collect the bike then discover what is wrong with it and then fix the problems.

Thanks for you help

Just out of interest does anyone know how much removals ect charge on average per mile/ per hour.
