just afew questions here

i bought a cbr off someone no tax or test and no v5 (don't worry i ran a HPI check on the bike)

now... iv sent off the V62, im MOT'ing the bike tomorow but i cant do tax??? i need the v5?? surely there must be a way of taxing a bike when you dont have a v5??? i really need this bike on the road asap as im without transport at the moment which is making life very very difficult, help??

Perhaps you could tax it online once MOT and insurance is showing against the vehicle.

How can you check the numbers and other details without a V5???

You probably will have to wait for the V5.
7-10 days...
Best to bus it into your Local DVLA office and ask one of them.
Quicker than trying to get them on the phone sometimes.
If you are keen and polite you might get a result by phoning.

My botty would be puckering now waiting on the Plod coming for it.
You do know you get Hee Haw money back if it's a Ringer?
And you could be roped into a court hearing too......

If you run a full HPi check on a vehicle reg, it should give you the current owners name and address and the recorded VIN and engine number, along with if it's stolen etc. So if those all match the bike that the registration plate is on, then it's a safe bet it's genuine. However if all you did is run a cheapo RAC style Hpi check on the registration that doesn't provide you with any details you could easily have bought a ringer.

I personally wouldn't touch a bike without a V5, as I can't imagine what sort of person loses the V5 and can't be bothered to get a replacement before selling it, raises lots of questions.

You can tax it online once the bike is in your name, which will mean waiting for you V62 application to go through, and your insurance and MOT to register on the relevant databases.

i bought my bike with out a v5 it was registered as permanently out of the country. i had to wait untill the v5 turned up, as i couldnt do i online and there was nothing to take o the post office.

I bought my bike without the V5 like you, sent the form off and had to wait just over 2 weeks for the V5 in my name to arrive.

I was under the impression you coudent get a bike MOT'd unless you have the V5?

And you should be able to tax it over the phone or internet as when doing it like this they will check your bike is insured and MOT'd on their database.

You dont need the V5 for an MOT, i took mine in this weekend and they didnt ask for it.

it went in a failed on indicators??? and a grabbing front disc

the shop i went to had a Honda XLR 125 in stock, nice big crosser i kinda fell in love with it haha they want 950 for it its j reg and id assume its had new mot and tax, its a very clean bike

what sort of part ex should i exspect for my cbr?? (04 reg tax til july, no mot, black v tidy mint runner) but obiously the mot issues which wont ebe much for them to sort

what should i go in asking for?

im selling as its definetly not for me, i thought i could live with its size but its far to small i want a big fat crosser
