I did search the forum for a thread on this but didn't see one Smile

I have a heavy D-lock and used to carry it in a courier bag but I don't like the way the bag hangs off to one side and gets in the way so now I stick it in a small Kriega rucksack I bought but I'm a bit paranoid about what might happen if I come off -- solid metal + backbone = ouch. So how do you carry yours and what sort of lock is it?

My heavy chain & lock live under my seat, along with some of them plastic gloves if I need to do anything maintenance wise, a large set of allen keys, a multi-tool (penknife thing) and a pair of waterproof trousers and there is still room for a disc lock if I had one & my sandwiches for lunch at work Laughing

Mind if you come off 'un-egg-speck-tedlee. A surgeon may have to remove said lock from your intestine.... Shocked I like to attached shit like that to the bike.

The REX has a cavernous under seat storage area because it doesn't have a monoshock taking all the space up so I can put my chain and lock under the seat and then use the bit in the tail for anything else Thumbs Up

My almax generally goes in the tailpack it came in, I've put it in my tank bag a couple of times whilst taking unexpected pillions but having the chain on the tank without the extra weight on the back makes the bike hellishly twitchy.

My padlock and disk lock usually get plonked in the tankbag.

My zzr also has a handy lockable holder in the fairing as well as a little bit of underseat room big enough for my disk lock if I'm not taking a bag out with me.

If you get the battery relocator kit thingiemagummer you can fit gallon cans under the seat. Mine will take 12 cans of "beverage" & enough ice to keep em cold Smile

As for the original question: I haven't needed/used a lock on a bike in the past 18 years...

well, bugger Smile So everyone keeps theirs under the seat. My XR125 has no under the seat storage so what's the best option? Maybe a chain that I can wrap around the luggage rack?

I don't use a lock. I have my disclock under the seat, but I never put it on unless I'm somewhere where I'm not sure about the area (at which point I generally find a nice private parking section)

Dont use any type of lock when im on my travels or at work.

Best prevention is parking it in a secure spot in the first place.

I use my disc lock which I carry in my jacket pocket.

No real point in carrying my chain with me as most of the time there is nothing to secure it to in the parking bays.

I wrap mine around the seat, only place I can keep a cable lock. I couldn't even put a disc lock underneath the seat if I wanted to.

I can fit a full size lock and chain under the seat of the SRAD.

When I was on the bandit I had a topbox for it.

For such sports orientated bike mines got loads of storage in the tail. I can get my big chain and padlock in along with a litre of oil.

Disk lock under the seat. Lives under there with loads of stuff so there isn't much room.

I do have my drug smuggling space inside the actual seat hump though. Laughing Good for directions and that.
