 Posted: 19:40 - 14 Feb 2008 Post subject: Syncronising Throttle Bodies? |
 |
|
Anybody tell me if balancing throttle bodies on a Gixer 1000 K4 is achievable with carbtune vac gauges?
I believe Injection bodies can be sync'd but not sure if all the electronics takes care of things like this on modern injection systems or would cause complications!
I'm also running K&N with powercommander and open can.
Any help would be appreciated. ____________________ While I'm chattin here I could be out causing a nuisance ........riding! |

Yes they can, and must be synchronised exactly the same as carbs. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

You must also set the TPS after synchronising the TB's by the way, as adjusting the butterflies can put the TPS setting out. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Cheers Geri......So all the gizmos and sensors don't help balance OR get in the way (electronically) of manually adjusting?
Is it a complex procedure? I can't find anything in my Suzi manual, it tells me nothing, not even vacuum settings! ____________________ While I'm chattin here I could be out causing a nuisance ........riding! |

No, the sensors have no effect on balance, the reason it's done is to make sure that each butterfly is letting in exactly the same amount of air at small throttle openings.
The vac gauges attach to the small barbs on the front of the throttle bodies. There should be a small pipe on each barb right now - these join together and go to the bike's MAP sensor. When you take the pipes off the bike will run like crap because the MAP sensor will not be getting a vac signal. To avoid this you could get 4 tee-pieces and some 4mm vac hose and tee the gauges into the lines whilst still leaving the stock tube connected. MY 'busa has 2 barbs on each throttle body and the spare ones are capped off so I just use those. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Just thought about that you cannot tee into the stck pipe you'll get a bad signal as they are all connected together. Take a look on gixxer.com or gixxerjunkies to see what people normally do. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Cheers again
That makes sense about runnng crap with hoses off. I found the procedure in the manual (throttle valve synchronization)
That's maybe why they say to remove the IAT from the air box but keep it connected once engine's warmed up.
AND
Remove the IAP sensor?
The only thing now is the values but I suppose the values should be quite close as the bike's only done 5K and was serviced 1K ago! If I can't find then I'll average them out!
I'll have a good look at gixxer.com and gixxerjunkies.

IAP sensor is what I'm calling the MAP sensor, connectoed to the throttle body barbs. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
