What causes the fireball thing to pop out the back of the exhaust?

I know it's to do with igniting the unburnt gasses, but what would you do to reach that level.

I do the same journey and same speeds every day but it just 'pops' at random times. Confused

I always thought it was un burnt petrol getting into the exhaust? hence the flame/pops as its in a small space

It is unburnt fuel in the exhaust, normally caused by either rich running or ignition problems, or occasionally just by a build up of fuel.

The thing is that often there isn't much oxygen in an exhaust and the three things that fire needs are fule, a source of ignition (heat) and oxygen. If you are getting loads of pops and bangs, check your exhaust for air leaks and your fuelling.

Cheers

It's caused by excess petrol in the exhaust that is not burned in the engine, then being ignited. For example, when you press the kill switch, fuel is still being sucked through the engine and condenses in the exhaust, then when you turn it back on, it ignites. if it does it when de-accelerating, the cause can be a blowing exhaust, or an overfueling bike... still, it sounds awsome Laughing
