Im picking a bike up today but has no tax, I also have no insurance docs as it was only insured yesterday.
Will a printed off certificate (given by bennets) showing that we are insured be ok?
Also, I read somewhere I can take the new vehicle supplement to the post office and tax it for 2 months - is this still with out insurance docs?
I know you need the MOT which we got.
Im only riding it to Brighton but still, its something in the back of my mind.
I have a quick look on here and cant find nothing, im picking it up around 1ish

Cheers guys

The print out should be fine to get tax, then just show them your V5 slip and the MOT. Thumbs Up

I got a full years tax with the V5 slip........

Yep, I had the slip from the old V5 and an insurance certificate that was emailed to me and I printed out.

Should be no problem.

it depends on the post office. my 2 local ones wouldnt accept a print out or faxed copy - it had to be the actual certificate. i just rode with no tax for a week, not much else i could do.

V5 slip is fine though.

Ok cheers guys.
Got the print out, if they dont accept Ill just ride it. Insurance is the main thing. Long as I carry all the relevant docs in case I do get pulled, its only 50 miles, mine tho being on a 125 I might just make it before dark Rolling Eyes

Major joke is that as most copy's are as good as the original, which are all printed anyway...

Problem with that is you're waiting up to five working days for the tax disc to show up, which if you need the tax to ride the bike home is too long to wait most of the time.

Mine took 3, and in the meantime it was taxed on the database. Better than fannying about waiting for Post Office fools to let you do it.

I guess having it taxed on the database is better than not having it taxed at all, at least then if you're pulled you might only get done for 'not displaying a valid tax disc' rather than the more serious offence of not having tax altogether.
I think if memory serves you also get a receipt on the website which as a last resort you could print out and carry round with you to prove you have actually paid your tax.
Hope you sort it out.

That's what I'd do - a copper would have to have had a seriously bad day to do you if you can show him proof you've paid but are just waiting for the disc in the post. Thumbs Up
