Can you get an AGM / sealed equivilent of YB12A-A

Hey guys

The battery that I got with my bike is a bit rubbish (bike is XJ600) and not very good at a) holding it's charge b) cold starting. It's some generic Chinese make.

I went to get a replacement, however got the wrong battery though I think I'll be able to sell it on since it's a sealed battery.

What I was wondering though, is whether the 'right' battery (according to m&p) the YB12A-A comes in sealed flavours.

The reason I ask is because my XJ600 is restricted and is an absolute pain to get going especially when it's cold. I've considered removing the restriction myself but not sure yet. It's just starved of fuel, so it needs a good push from the battery to get the engine turning, and the last one was horrid at it. AGM batteries tend to be higher performing, whereas the YB12A-A seems a little underpowered in these terms.

The dimensions are 136 x 82 x 161

p.s. anyone know any mobile mechanics to do a straightforward job in the Leicester area (throttle cable replacement)? I thought I'd see if there were any word of mouth recommendations before going in the yellow pages.

Google 'yuasa batteries', you will find the full technical spec of every battery they make on their web site.

I'd say yuasa were one of the better brands, I have one thats a few years old now that is still able to crank my XS650 from cold.

I had a look here https://www.tayna.co.uk/batterygroups/80/512-011-Motorcycle-Batteries-page1.html and there does not seem many alternitives for that type of battery. I think Varta are quite good, however on many other bike models you are offered AGM tech batteries.

I am sure Varta would be better than what you have now. Or I agree with the other posts that YUASA are excellent.

You won't regret a AGM battery, you will realise how shiyte the lead acid type are once you have tried one.

The cranking power is second to none and they don't get fazed by cold weather or deep cycling.

Give Cheshire batteries Clicky a ring and give them the size and they will tell you of the ones that match.

Remember the AGM batteries can be much smaller that a lead acid battery and give more power so you can look for smaller dimensions as long as the power ratings are the same or better.
