Is there any reason I shouldn't (or should) have blood tests results for HIV/Hepatitis that came back negative added to my medical records?

While having an operation to take a couple of screws out of my leg someone managed to spike themselves with a needle being used on me I believe.
I was asked to have some blood tests to confirm that I wouldn't have infected him/her.
These came back negative.

Now, if they had been positive there would be definite implications regarding insurance, but just want to make sure there's nothing regarding negative results - for instance could the fact I've had a test be viewed negatively?

Hi

Think some companies want to know, and regard you having been tested for it as being an extra risk.

All the best

I assume that they think you take the test as you engage in risky behaviour?.

Thats a bit of a double bind isn't it? , in that its good responsible to go to a GUM clinic to get yourself checked up every so often. But in doing so it knobbles your record?.

That said I have zilch insurance anyway, other than vehicle insurance and the other gentleman's agreement.

Useful to know, ta Thumbs Up.
I don't have to add it to be my record now and there's little other record of it, so presumably can get it added in future, if needed.

What Keith said.

Our company nurse said that to be tested for HIV or any STDs is usually taken to imply you're taking unnecessary risks. Rolling Eyes

I used to work with people with learning disabilities who had previouslly lived in long stay hospitals, who are a high risk group for Hepatitis B. I used to have to get tested regularly and have the jabs.

Had to declare it for insurance and was told this would be seen negatively and or/ had to provide additional details more than once, even though it was a job thing and always negative.

I am Diabetic and have a Blood disease that is in remission (Sarcoidosis) and every 6 months I am given a full blood workout which includes all the above tests you have had. It is also done as a matter of course if you are a blood doner.

Every pregnant woman is now tested for HIV in the routine blood tests taken at the beginning of the pregnancy.

Unnecessary risks? Laughing Classic!
