Has anybody had an iguinal hernia?

After noticing a few small lumps under my skin at the top of my legs (between my thigh and groin/stomach) I did some research and it seems like my symptoms match up fairly accurately.

I have yet to see my GP but will do shortly. Here's my "story"

I felt a small lump which didn't and still doesn't hurt, on the right side of my groin at the "crease" if you like a few months back and thought nothing of it and left it alone.

Last week I read about someone going in for a hernia op so it brought back my thinking. So unlike you normally would, being a male! I felt around and I have several of these small lumps on the right and left beneath my skin. (They might have been there previously but had not felt around before)

Has anybody else had these symptoms what did you do and how was the op? Thanks.

ps the original lump doesn't appear to have grown but I feel I should get it checked out.

I worried about the same thing a good few years back, went the dox and he said it was fine. some sort of glands or cybernetic implants, i didnt pay much attention cos he said there is nuttin to worry about.

BUT im no quack, its always worth getting chkd out "just incase"

From what you say (multiple lumps), you don't appear to have a hernia so don't worry about the operation. Probably lymph nodes (glands) - do you have an infection at the minute? - but your doctor will have a better idea when he/she sees you.

Yep, an inguinal hernia is only one large lump so you don't have one of those by the sounds of it. Doctors is the best call, don't be scared and just get it done.

Im on the waiting list for my Hernia, had my pre operative assement and was told 4 weeks. But still haven't got a letter through confirming the date.

Had my pre op assesment on wednesday, operation within 12 weeks hopefully. Had to have a blood test, hope they don't test for drugs or I'm fucked haha. Not looking forward to the op, gotta have a needle stuck in the back of my hand for the drip, think I'm going to go with general anaesthetic rather than local myself.

Ask for the cannula in the top of your elbow region if it really bothers you that much. I always ask for the to be sighted there as the veins in my hands are a right bastard to get at.

They don't really hurt to be honest, like taking blood, sharp scratch and then a slight stinging for a few seconds, and when fluids are injected through them, it feels like a warm flushy type feeling, but for a GA it will be 3 seconds of warm flush and then you'll be out for the 40 mins.

You'll also have a Local Anesthetic as well as the General anyway thats what i was told, just stops it being too painful when you wake up

hi, i had a hernia when i was three and i went with general anesthetic and the only thing i can remember is 1. lying on the bed wondering "wtf" lol (i was only 3 years old lol) and 2. waking up and the doctors giving me glasses of orange juice to make sure i can go to toilet properly but owell thats my lil story over

but hey theres nothing to be affraid of, the doctors are trained (i hope lol) and they definatly know what they are doing and prob done it loads of times before

I have a small pea sized lump in the same place.
Its been there for years - It can get annoying.
But its not gotten any bigger/smaller so I just thought it was a fatty lump

Finally got my date for my op, Monday the 16th of March, it was overdue as they will be repairing a larger hernia now than it was at the pre op over 5 weeks ago.

Well got a letter today to say my op on the 16th has been cancelled and it has been brought forward to this Monday (the 9th) so getting nervous now

Im actually at home recovering from Hernia operation I had last Wednesday. To be honest im feeling mostly fine now (pains similar to bad game of rugby)... even able to put on my own socks though its still a struggle.

The main thing is to listen to doctors, I have a follow up appointment on April 6th and have been told not to ride bike before date.

Had mine on monday, and again been mostly fine, apart from feeling off my head from the anesthetic yesterday. Also have Tramadol for pain relief which are great.

Pain is not too bad, feel like a throbbing sensation when you take the pain killers. But it does hurt when bending down to put socks on or going from the sitting posistion to standing, walking etc.

Hopefully go back to uni within the next week, but cant do any lifting for at least 3 weeks.
