Just started weight-lifting and was wondering how useful this stuff would be? Am I right in saying the general idea for using the stuff is that it contains lots of protein and that's what we use to build repair parts of our body? (nucleotides etc?) cheers for any relevant advice in advance. Thumbs Up Very Happy

You know what nucleotides are but you don't know what protein is for?

You havn't read the two million other posts about protein and supplements?

Are you just showing off?

The most you'll probably need is whey. I use Myprotein, brilliant site & very cheap.

Impact Whey

& go here before you buy https://www.muscletalk.co.uk/

I use Optimum Nutrition gold standard whey, it tastes good with water, so makes it easy to drink straight after gym, and tastes amazing with milk

Cost me summit like 30 quid for 77 servings, i hav 2-3 a day.. so lasts about a month. Good stuff though

I reccomend creatine though as well for before your workout, lifts pretty much doubled in the 6 weeks i was on creatine, currerntly doing 3 weeks off though as its best to do in cycles. Ive been going to gym for around 3 months now, seeing good improvements, and got soo much stronger, and people are noticing arms and chest getting bigger which is always good.

Cheers for the advice but isn't the idea to consume it before gym?

Nope not protien, should be taken withen 20 mins after the gym. I drink straight after the workout. You can have one before if you want, but its best to after. Just eat something high in carbs before working out. I goto gym in the morning so normally eat cereal and a banana before the gym

Yea, and you get some tanks in prisons who dont use any supplements, But its just easier with supplements, drinking 250ml of water with 24 grams of protein in it is so much easier than eating 2 chicken breasts. Even though u cant live in protein shakes. They sure help. Same with creatine

It easier to get it from food, you just have your normal meals with protein rich food, it saves the expense and bother of having to make up a protein drink, its quite laughable that people seem to think they NEED protein drinks to go to the gym.

Agree with most comments really, I take Met-RX when I can get a good deal on bulk buys, each company has their own "advanced" formula but what matters to me is whether it tastes like absolute horse shite.

In general you'd want most of your protein to come from your diet, hence the word "supplement", and definitely take the protein straight after your workout, try moderately loading up on carbs beforehand to give you the energy you'll need to bang out that iron!

A creatine product I find amazing is called Kre-Alkalyn and if you shop around you can get some great deals on it, its in capsule form as well so you dont have to arse around with powders that wont dissolve an takin it several times a day, plus theres not really a loading stage so straight into it, I noticed the difference within in a week and after 6-8 weeks your strength/physique can improve massively.

Oh an Im of the opinon that the reason people go into priuson an come out as brick shithouses is because their fed 3 square meals a day with all the good stuff in it, save energy by not being very active other than when their pressin weights and the fact that its piss easy to get hold of steroids in prison (been told that by multiple people who speak from first hand experience).

Just my 2 pennies.....

I used the gym in prison and I never beefed up, I just lost some fat and toned up, but the food is shite, 3 square meals a day or not, any goodness is cooked right out of it.
