Just wondered what people's general opinions are on mixing Manufacturer race rep colours with other manufacturer bikes. Say you had a fireblade and really fancied the airwaves ducati colours etc. This just a big no no in your opinion or just a yeah whatever thing? Good or bad thought?
I suppose you could say that it's like spraying vauxhall badges onto a ford escort.

Just wondered what other people think.

I dont know really, its like seeing the old "Turbo" badge off mid-80's 911's on the back of Escorts... it may have a turbo, and it may be fast, but ...its not a 911 Turbo, you look like a twat.

Repsol bike is a Honda, Airwaves bike is a Ducati, Wispa is a Yamaha, etc etc... its how moses intended.

Castrol is a Honda or a Toyota Celica GT4 though, I'll let you away with that Thumbs Up

But,

Alex (tatter's) 954 blade had a loris capirossi malboro scheme on it and that looked pretty good, but it's pretty silly. Like back in indonesia, i've seen CBR150's and ZXR150's done up in rossi yamaha colours and it just looks stupid.

If it's generic and innocuous, then it'll be ok - like all these red-bull schemes you see - they've sponsored yamaha in the past and honda so I don't mind sticking that on it.

If you're gonna get a sports paintjob, make sure it's done properly.

I don't know how it works, but surely the shape of the bike is taken into account when they apply the designs. Confused

This Yamaha XT600 engined Mito looks good in Foggy Petronas colours. FP colours would go well on a number of bikes because the FP1 doesn't really exist.

I'd also point and laugh if someone had paid out to get a 'race replica' paint job on a bike that /was/ the same company as is raced.

Oh and remember 'Repsol' is mostly famous for being a petrol station - I wonder how many people would go around with an 'Esso' or 'BP' bike Smile.

That, looks really nice except the tail unit have been the same colour as the front end.

I think as long as the rep scheme has been done proper(like, pukka official racing colours used on track) it don't matter too much what model bike they're on, as long as it's the right make.

Also, my NS was badge as an NSR on the side fairings. Marjay pointed out he thought it was wrong but to be honest, It didn't matter so much to me, it was a similar style Honda from the same period so it was fine to me, same kinda thing?

EDIT - I'm sure I've Shell sponsor signs on some MITO's, maybe others and even BP on a track bike somwhere on't net.

Biaggi's negative corona wsb Smile my new toy, and yes im a happy man Wink but onto the point i think it all depends on the bike and the style, im sure paint jobs are enginereed for different bikes to suit shape etc, but heck whatever floats your boat, however ducati airwaves job on a gixxer, then i would laugh.
