On the way back from a (relatively) long blast yesterday, I noticed a kind of crackling sound from within my helmet, almost like it was raining heavily or something (but it wasn't)...I've checked the lid over but there aren't any cracks or anything, and I didn't crash into anything!...

...any ideas?

Cheers,

Tin

Maybe you have a colony of bugs setting up home in one of your vents Very Happy

Or maybe not Wink

Sounds like a good excuse to get a nice shiny new one to me

It might be the vents...I did run into a few unlucky bugs (and one HUGE bluebottle...I think...), so something might be clogging up the vents...

yeah, if I could afford it!...I have been looking at the Roof lids, but I have to keep telling myself that I am in enough debt already!...besides, I'd prefer to buy some stuff for my RVF...(like insurance!)

Sure it wasn't a sound from the bike?
I had a bung on the tank out on upside down after a service, so metal was on metal. The noise vibrated thru me and onto me lid! took me 3 weeks to figure out what it was then I only noticed by accident (went over a speed-bump, clamped legs round tank, noise stopped....)

The noise could be loose visor screws........
or maybe the polystyrene inner is moving around?
Just an idea

Tail end of the helmet strap tapping the side of your helmet, or even the top fastening on your jacket......

All the best

Hi

Come along.

The Stormy was quite busy tonight, and the road there was "closed" again.

All the best
