Hi, I have a claim still in the midst which I have got an agreed 25% blame, and therefore may claim 75% of damages from the other party.

At the time of my crash I was fairly fubarred and didnt have the mental capacity to do things like save petrol receipts or clothing receipts etc for when my claim was totted up. Due to this I was hoping for some advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation, or even made a claim.

Should I just state I had the top of the range helmet/leathers/boots and gloves and send them a printout with the items full price or can I just make a rough estimate at how much the items cost?

What would you do in theis situation?

Cheers

Sam.

Provided you have purchased like for like kit, this will not be a problem as usually your supplying dealer will be able to provide a duplicate receipt which will be accepted by the third party insurers.

What you have to be careful of is buying something far more expensive than was actually damaged, so for example if you were wearing a £30 crash helmet andyou send them a bill for a £300 replacement, it could cause you big problems if you are found out.

Be realistic and it should not be a problem, and if your dealershi will supply a duplicate receipt and you have catalogue prices to back up this purchase, then there will be no problems.

I bought my replacements at a show 2 years ago. So I dont relly have anything on that either. I am just going to have to see what is agreed for my kit and lump it as it was all fairly well priced show clothing.

Depends on how you paid for it all if it was by credit card you may be able to trace it back or the credit card company may be able to do that for you if you paid cash then there is no chance

But put an estimate in a little over what you paid for it but not too much as they will have some idea

Good luck with the claim

You could go to your local dealers and ask them for an estimate on headed paper for replacement clothing etc

Just a thought

See if you can find the same product for sale now, or what has replaced it.
GIve them details of what you had and what is its replacement now.
