Had my Gixxer stolen in November from my locked garage with a load of 'approved' security on it.

As above, no stopping people if they want it enough... Sad

no
but one of my best mates has, he bought a new 50cc nrg power in 2007 and about 2 months later it had been nicked from outside his house.
he was so gutted, and tbh so was i.

he was insured by lexham i think, and from the £1800 he paid for the moped he got about £800 back.

You're right about the number of threads, I'd noticed that myself...
Is there a national bike-thiefing going on?
Are the houses of parliament going to be stormed by suicide bikers on stolen bikes?
All this and more, after the weather....

F650 once. Turned up being pushed down the road couple days later. Minimal damage. Police told me they caught the guy, but it wasn't in the publics interest to prosecute, because he was already on a suspended prison sentance for ... stealing bikes! Explain that one to me!

and then I caught three kids trying to steal the same F650 at 5:30am another day (good thing I start work early). They had it wedged half over a fence when I went out. They ran off, and I didn't catch any of them. This time when I phoned the police they said they were too busy to bother coming out, dispite the fact I told them there was no chance I could move my bike alone.

So, as I'm sure you can guess, I have no respect for the police with these matters. Just as they seem to not give a crap about motorbikes!

I voted yes although at the time the bike had no chain or battery on it so was found less than a hundred yards away torched.

I knew who took it and they would only go for small bikes that they could rag on the fields. Once I had bikes 400cc plus they werent interested.

I had my first Aprilia RS50 stolen from outside my college as well as my 70cc Suzuki Quad Replica stolen from my garage (before I had a lot more security fitted!) within one week of each other, it would actually make me happy if these people were tortured to death, just before they watched their children get bum raped by a pedophile and then tortured to death! Evil or Very Mad

I had my divvy nicked from outside my house. Fell asleep without locking it, so they just wheeled it away. Coppers found it in a known garage on an estate up the road. What a touch, not much damage either. A gang of kids watched from their a balcony as I rode it off, I gave them a wave.

Since then, well, you have to be philosophical about it. Bikes are easier to nick than cars and are a lot of fun. You can only do what you can. When I'm looking through Biketrader and see bikes I like, I think about the insurance and how much of a theif magnet it will be. Have I got suffcient security for a desireable bike?

The people who nick them are bastards, but you can't take it personally. Insurance, alarm, locks and try not to be too upset if it goes. Like falling off and near death experiences with silver Mercs, unfortunately one of the many negatives you have to go through.

Had my Bandit 600 stolen from beneath my window, All it had was a steering lock so i dident do everything i could have to protect it, Luckily it was found a week later and needed only a new ignition barrel and some work on the lockstops,

Absolutely gutting walking outside and not seeing it there, i walked around all the local streets in a daze.

I home Karma finds all those who steal bikes...

Not so far, but my old scooter was stolen and ripped apart by a gang of chavs not long after I sold it to a mate. But she got a 125 with the payout money so worked out alright in the end.

If anybody had gone to the effort to steal my ped I would have wondered what was wrong with them, especially as it was usually kept near a litre sports bike.

My 125 hasn't been stolen, touch wood, but I'm pretty complacent with it. I usually only bother with the steering lock as the chain seems a lot of hassle for the protection it offers. Anybody with a file/bolt croppers etc. could easily take it off.

Never had one nicked, although I did come close once. Someone disturbed the little c*nts before they did any damage.

A chain's still better than a steering lock. Mate, those steering locks can be broken in seconds.

Had my very first motorbike, a YB100, stolen from outside my girlfriends house. It was parked on the driveway, and whilst I had botched a cheapo alarm on it, it wasn't locked (The old 'one night won't hurt).

Some time in the early morning I remember waking up briefly after hearing my alarm make a very brief BEEP!, but I didn't think much of it because to be honest the alarm was shite and I couldn't trust it. Woke in the morning to find it gone.. walked for two hours around Cardiff pressing my key fob in vain praying that I'd hear my bike beeping back at me from some random garage. Didn't happen. Wasn't insured for theft either.

After that, I had my TZR nicked from a mate's back garden by the local kiddy-shites. It had a disc lock on the front wheel, and the bike was found later that evening about 20 feet down the road by the police.

Sadly, the coppers decided that it would be too much hassle to walk 20 feet down the road to tell me they'd found it, or even bother to call me, and I heard nothing of the bike until the next day when the local recovery service phoned me telling me they had it.

Cue a £130 charge.

I hate the police. I realize that being turned in to just another limb for the insane, bureaucratic bunch of twats in parliament has no doubt put a strain on their effectiveness, but totally honestly, the police are NEVER there when I have needed them, but somehow ALWAYS there when they're ready to fine me.

I've called the police on the following occasions and received literally no responses (that day) to ANY of these:

- YB100 stolen

- Attacked by a group of thugs for 'invading their turf' whilst walking through bad area with my mate. The 'leader' attempted to stab me in the back, luckily only grazed me. My mate got jumped and had his ear cut. Police were no-shows to the whole incident, and aside from being invited down the station a few days later, where the officer told me there was nothing he could do, the cunts got away for it.

- Group of kids tried to nick my TZR on my 18th birthday from outside a pub. Little cunts wouldn't leave the area, so I had to stand outside for 3 fucking hours, ringing the police non-stop for some assistance. None came.

- More recently, two black guys fighting at 4am in the corridors of my flat. Including lots of shouting and throwing each other into mine and other tennant's doors. They were fighting for easily 20-30 minutes, police were complete no shows. Had a phonecall at about 8am from police to apologize for them not showing.

- I can't count the number of times that I had to phone the police whilst I was working in the local Co-op store, because of kids hanging around outside the shop throwing stuff at the store and abusing passer's by. The police would show up on average 1 in 5 times I called them, and even when they did it wasn't for an hour at the least.

Christ... I could go on.

Sorry to go a little off-topic, I just needed to rant a bit.

Fuck Labour.

Yes, an old piece of crap honda 250n about 10 years ago, It was parked outside my house. The best thing was i only paid £75 for it and i was going to do it up.I got it back after about 2 weeks and the scrotes had done it up. It had been repainted, brakes sorted and a new streetfighter style light.
The police said i could keep everything as they did not know where it was from.

thankfully not yet - but theres a bit of a problem with chav scum where i live and ive had 2 cars vandalised to destruction before i started with bikes.
In fact that was the reason i started riding - i figured id have more chance of keeping a bike safe in my garden rather than leaving a car parked on the st, so although i was incredibly pissed at the time i guess things worked out for the best Smile
