There probably won't be anything specific for the n95 for bike mounting. touratech and RAM make lots of mounts, but they are all. as far as I can tell, mounts for dedicated GPS units, and for use in all weathers. I'm suire you woudn't want your N95 getting soaked in a downpour Wink

RAM mounts have announced the Aquabox 6, that seems to be quite big (4"x6"x1.75") - its available at the end of March/Start of April

https://www.ram-mount.com/mount/ram_aqua_box_mount.htm

I've got an Aquabox AQ2 - I can fit my smartphone or an full size ipod in it...seems pretty solid and waterproof and can still work the controls on the phone or the ipod - won't get a full size GPS in it though.

^Yes it does but you need a socket arm also like this to connect them both together. https://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod397.html

The N95 is a pi$$ poor excuse for a Sat-Nav. I wouldn't even bother buying a mount for one. The best option is the top pocket of a tank bag or buy a decent GPS. Thumbs Up

i think the N95 is a great little device.

Mine uses Nokia Maps, and not Route 66. You can always buy a Bluetooth GPS receiver to boost the performance of the software.

I put the phone in the top pocket of me jacket connect the gps receiver wich i hang from a lanyard tied to the bars and away i go.

fecking brilliant!

Route66 gives you free GPS instead of nokia's system which costs. It uses the internal GPS module but the signal seems shocking in my area!

The N95 GPS chip is not very good. It only functions well as a GPS once you get the latest firmware upgrade. I think it might be v12?

Depending on the provider of your phone you might be blocked from upgrading. In that case you need to change the profile of the phone so it thinks it is generic - then it will update the phone to the latest firmware version which is about v20.

With the latest firmware you get assisted GPS so it uses data transfer to approximate where you are (same as what the iPhone does) thus allowing the GPS much faster locking time.

Pre-upgrade my average GPS lock time was about 15min. Now it is about 20-30s. I don't know how Nokia had the cheek to release a phone where the GPS was clearly completely useless.

Anyway, I use TomTom Rider. Smile

I mounted the Aquabox onto an old TomTom Rider Mount stem - does the job.

I've now decided I'm going to sell it anyway as have bought another TomTom to replace the one I lost (a poor man's rider - a TomTom V1 Refurb, a £5 mount clip from Maplin, The old Rider mount stem and will use a clear plastic bag for when it rains). Already had a cigarette lighter socket fitted so in theory is should all work - going to try it at the weekend.

Stick it in a pocket and run from the voice-prompts instead.
