I wouldn't mind having an RS125 for some bizarre reason to rag around and generally have some summer fun on. I know it has a somewhat chavy image but being an old fart I can have the full unleashed power of the mighty 2t engine.

A Montesa or Gas Gas trials bike could while away a few hours.

Being realistic as 'toys' should be, what'd it be?

If you're thinking of an RS125, why not go for an RGV250 to drop the chav image? Still fairly light and nippy, like the RS.

Fair point.

For twice the price I'd have a RS250R but thats a little too much for a dry weather, summer, twighlight tarmac munching toy.

like said, i'd have an RGV250 tbh, or an RG125? i think the RS family are over priced.

Yamaha SDR200. Remove brain before use.
Pic shows standard model, this is how they rolled off the production line. Most people throw the mirrors away and fit clip-ons

I'm still agreeing with daz although the sdr looks interesting. I looking for something too haven't quite decided what yet. I like the idea of little bikes that can handle twisties really well. Much fun. Be interesting to see what you get. Very Happy

I like that Stink, looks like the srx's, but wrapped in a better looking frame.

I recon though Daddy, being an old fart you should harken back to the old days and bag yourself a good condition RD250DX (if such a thing still exists).

For a buzzy road-play thing, I'd be tempted by a TZR250, maybe stick a plate on an ex Yamaha Past Masters race bike, so you've got well sorted suspension and brakes.
Power is will be somewhere between the RS125 and RS250 and an ex-YPM one should have better handling than either once set up for you.

Were it me, I'd be going for a cheap trail bike. You can do the simpler trials stuff on one too - they even have classes for it in many club trials (something I've been meaning to try sometime.)

A trials bike would definitely be interesting, but is a bit more hassle - ie getting it to play areas is going to require a van, really.

Yamaha TDR.
125:

There is a model of the TDR125 (Yurrupian i think, mostly seen as Italian imports) that has the same 'cradle' type frame as the DT125 and wire spoked wheels - IMHO those don't look half as good as the one pictured above.
250:

Silly, just silly. Twisted Evil
Why they never made a 250 with the same style frame as the 125 never fails to amaze me - that's my personal project pipe dream.
Very Happy

NSR 250. Nothing else needs to be said.

Unless it's 125 you want, then NSR for reliability and top end fun, MITO for real top speed(as a 125).

I'd hardly call a bike thats valued at 4 times my main bike a 'toy' to throw around.

Then an RS 125 is ot the way to go, as they are over priced, theres one at my work, fired up once to deliver £3k if you want it. if you after a flickable 2 stroke why not get an Rg125f? they do a good 100 extremly light and are supposed to be extremly fun. just my 2pence.

ahah my "big" bike is a 50, I'd have to get a minimoto if I wanted a little toy lol.

If I had a full license I would have a big bike and get an RS250R.

The RS125 is made of awesomeness, I'm considering a 125 green-lane toy at the moment myself. Thumbs Up
