Arrow So, its Monday morning, come in to work in the rain. Ride in to warehouse as normal, then uh oh, backs coming out. Try to correct it but back wheels just not regripping. End up on the floor facing the oposite direction after jus laying the bike down.

No damage done, crash bungs scored 10 out of 10!

Arrow Its now Wednesday, riding home through town, filtering at about 40, in 2nd so nice and loud. Who happens to be in the traffic cue? A traffic cop car, i go past, sierens come on. Said i shouldnt speed, people on bikes die, and that he wants to have a word about my plate (its tiny).

Got told to get it changed within 2 weeks and get stamped at a MOT place. Easy.

Arrow They say bad luck comes in threes...Its now Friday morning. 7:59 AM filtering between two lines of traffic on a dual carrige way, slowing down as just entering the traffic. Looking as far forward as possible to check for movment/indicators.

I see a big LDV van indicate and start moving across lanes (from left to right) about 4 car lengths ahead of me. Ground wet, tyres stone cold and im still doing about 65ish. Both breaks on as much as i could, i know im not going to stop! Was hoping the van would move quickly but he stopped right in the fucking middle. By now my back end was skidding gracefully. I was looking for possible places to go, best bet was the gap between the car that was behind the van, and the van. Back still not gained grip i swung the bike in to the gap, im now just slidding sideways at about 45mph. Flicked the bike back round to smack the van on its passenger side corner at about 40mph. Cue me flying down the road where the van once was!

Sat up, looked at bike, layed back down. It was a mess.

10 seconds later got up, took helmet off and went in search of driver. Couldnt find him, luckily he was round the other side of the van. Almost through my helmet at him, but thought better of it and instead shouted "Do you not fucking use your mirrors mate??" The obvious replay came, "Yeah, i didnt see you. I indicated". Cue me just turning to the layby to put my stuff down limping.

Was rather nice for the car drivers that were cueing to not give a shit and use the layby to get round my smashed up bike though.

For some reason this pc dont have Paint on it, but i would draw a diagram otherwise Laughing

Not had a decent look but damage to the bike consists of:

Arrow Front fairing
Arrow Both side fairings (Though R@Gs did fantastic against scratches again, jus the fact that they snapped where screwed to front fairing!)
Arrow Screen
Arrow Lights (housing)
Arrow All mounts etc
Arrow All plastics around front hiding wires
Arrow Probably some wire damage Rolling Eyes
Arrow Front wheel no longer aligned (Forks twisted in clamps?)
Arrow Dink in one fork
Arrow Mudguard
Arrow Dink in tank
Arrow Gear changer and hanger/footrest
Arrow Scratched casing

Damage to me:

Arrow Sprained right ankle
Woke up with a bit of a sore back and left shoulder (where i landed on according to my jacket)

Damage to van:

:arror: 1 inch crack on corner bumper

Phoned up my insruance yesterday evening, told them but they said I have to phone up his? I tried this earlier as i was told it was a 24 hour, 7 day a week line to be told i can only report incidents during week.

How would this go through insurance? Would have thought 50/50.

I was probably entering the traffic a bit fast, but below speed limit. He indicated and moved at the same time, and then stoped between the lanes. A off duty policeman said he see the incident and ive got a incident number, but he didnt say what he saw. I do on the other hand have one other witness who said she see him on his mobile though...

My mum and girlfriend always have said greens an unlucky colour....

My insurance claims is not open at weekends, must be a commonality amongst brokers.

Looks expensive to repair, maybe a Cat X of some description?

Bike will be a write off. Do not admit to filtering at 65mph. Doing it is stupid, admitting it is even more stupid.

Considering you managed to scrub off a mere 20 odd mph, I'd agree that you were travelling a touch fast for described conditions irrespective of the 70mph limit.

He may have seen you, he may not have, but he probably wasn't expecting someone to be filtering at 65mph. 50/50.

i wasnt filtering at 65, i had just rolled off throttle coming in to the traffic.

Deffinalty no paint.

Ankle hurts too much to ride a push bike presently Razz

you sure a write off Joe? Didnt think it was that bad, but when brought all new parts i spose it would work out a grand or so...

Well I suppose you could argue the point with them about the write off thing but when I got hit on my RR the damage looked less then that and it was a write off.

You might have to make sure your insurance company fights your corner on this one instead of rolling over. Don't just take the 50/50.

Remind them of Davis vs Shrogin.

Easy write off. Any sportsbikes over a couple of years old will be a write off from minimal damage.

Shit mate, that looks horrible...

No offense meant at all, but I'd think its a little unfair to be too harsh on the van driver, in my most humble opinion you were filtering way too fast...

Unless of course, he WAS on the phone.

Well if it was a write off, what would happen?

Its on finance, so i still owe the cost of the bike as i only got in in January.

How much would they give back?

Could i buy it back from them to sell the parts?

If its on finance then the bike really isnt yours, I believe the amount outstanding is deducted from the payout and given straight to the finance co., and you get the chips thats left if there is any.

Another reason to get a loan instead, I think. At least then the payout money is yours and yours alone to either replace, or buy back and fix.

Crying or Very sad

at least you're ok.

As long as it isn't cat A or B you can probably fix it up quite easily from what I guestimate:

top fairing , forks , if you are really unlucky downpipes and radiatior maybe a bit of plastic weld for the panels.

As its a very common bike parts shouldn't be a problem.

Ahh, thats a bit of a shitter mate. I think kawasaki's are a bit of a curse for both of us eh? We both managed to scuff up our ZXR250's and now both of us mullered our ZX6R's.

I tried to go 50/50 in my case, but my insurers were adamant that the other party was just an innocent bystander... so i had to admit fault (even though when i came off, police evidence showed oil everywhere). Went 100% her way. I'd quote what Joe said since i read in Bike that filtering payouts were payed when any clued up solicitor/insurer quoted that case and got 100% settlement.

Oh, evidentally, i also crashed in my BT014s. Just nae luck i suppose. Hope your ankle heals quickly Adam.

Presume you are tpft. In which case they don't really care as you are not claiming from them (although the other dricer might be).

Basically tp you deal with the claim (possibly using legal cover bought with the policy). Fully comp you claim from your insurance and then they deal with the claim from the other driver.

All the best

Keith

Hope your ok Groove. And.. not another one. Sad Bikes seem to be just dropping a bit at the mo(or riders being daft Wink -not aimed at you).

Will most likely be a writ off unless you can somehow keep your bike out of the loop, least then it isn't officially a write off, so you can just get it MOT'd. Wink (please, someone say this is ok to do)
