Met Office Severe Weather warning
Quote:
Severe Gales 0000 Mon 10 0300 Tue 11
The Met Office is expecting an intense low pressure system to move east across the UK during Monday 10 March, bringing severe gales and potentially damaging gusts across some areas. Southerly winds are expected to strengthen during the first part of Monday but then turn westerly later. Gusts of 60 to 70mph are expected but there is a possibility of 80mph gusts over exposed coasts and hills. Much depends on the exact track of the low centre but at this stage, parts of Wales and the southern half of England are considered at greatest risk. Disruption could occur to transport and power supply networks and there may be damage to buildings. This warning will be updated around 1030 on Saturday 8 March 2008.

Issued at: 0930 Fri 7 Mar

Looks like I'll be taking the car to work, or working from home on Monday.

hmmm... Maybe I should get a train on Tuesday evening rather than riding for an hour. I'm also meant to be out delivering tomorrow afternoon on a moped.

Seems a bit of a waste since I fixed the electrical problems on the NTV already (they only work 100% in the rain), will still be out and about in Oldham though working away from the office this week.

I'd give tomorrow afternoon a miss especially as your neck of the woods is going to get the brunt of it. But Tuesday evening looks fine, the severe warning is only in place until 0300 Tuesday.

Well, I survived 6 hours on a moped with a fuck off big box/sail on the back. Luckily I only had to do a few deliveries, and it was mostly head/tailwinds rather than sidewinds. It really makes me appreciate the extra weight and lower surface area of my 125 traillie.

Bike went over last night and the cover now resides somewhere in Morecambe Bay.

Louise: ya know could be worse i suppose, you could live in Gloucester. Or even Tewksbury, although the Abbey was above the water, if i remember correctly it was the only thing that was really. Other then the local pub, which had all the usual punters rowing over 2 buy a pint Razz always a way 2 make money in situations.

(BTW pics from last years flooding, havent been in glos since the warnings so i dnt know if my house has flooded yet or not, will be a nice surprise i suppose :S)
