 |
|
Well you can guess what happend from the title.
Purchased a Speed Triple today (used, but the bike is new to me), rode it to the Mrs place and stuck a disc lock on it as we had plans for the day.
Fast forward to 10PM I have to head home, get ready, start bike, move barely a meter and *smack* down I go.
I feel such a ****ing fool.
The lock was a bitch to get off.
Damage:
Front brake lever bent
Bar end scratched
Engine casing slightly scuffed (hardly worth mentioning)
Rear brake lever bent inwards.
The front disc MAY be warped however.
I could hear a slight scraping noise when I pushed the bike at the Mrs at a point in the disc, didnt feel it at any time during the ride home however, even heavy braking I didnt feel it.
Oh well. Good excuse to get Pazzo`s and crash bungs I think
Pictures tomorrow. |

easily done.
Gid it to the Gixxer and wrecked the brand-new custom paint on the mudguard.
Still kicking myself.

ive done something simular lol.
I park the bike at colleg and put the chain round the back and loop it round the luggage rack. I obvisoly got distracted one time and forgot about it, started the bike sat on it rolled it back for it to suddenly stop . I look down and see the chain raped round the wheel
Next time put the disc lock resting on the shock so when you push it or come to move the bike it wont move at all. ____________________ 2005 - 2006:Peugeot jet force 50 TDSI (sold)

If you use a disk-lock ALWAYS put it on the back of the disk, just under the caliper. That would stop this happening. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Best and cheapest way is to have a bit of vacuum tube about an inch long off an old carb. Keep it on the disclock key then when you put the lock on the bike take the tube off the key for the lock and slide it onto the ignition key of the bike. That way when you go to start the bike later you cant because of the rubber hose on the key and it reminds you to remove the lock. Then when the locks removed put it back on the key for the lock for next time. ____________________ Andy Sez....

or get an alarmed disclock, saved me a few times, an alarm goin off is less embarassing then hitting the deck
bad luck on the new bike though ____________________ ''He had the confidence of a baby-goat dared to tickle a t-rex's nutsack'' |

I saw a lock once that used part of it to hold the footpeg on. No way you could forget then. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Now you don't need to spend quite so much time worrying you might spoil a perfect bike, so can enjoy the riding that bit more .
You can get little curly-cords that go from your disc lock to your throttle/brake to remind you.
Also seen locks that go over the front brake lever, rather than the disc it's self. Of course a thief could just cut the brake line with those, however. |

It's the Speed Fours Revenge It was angry about being upgraded. I have done it a few times neve falling over mind. The disc lock reminder are well worth it loop one end round the lock (at all times) and then loop the other round the handle bar. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. I use a neon green dog leash on my disc lock with the top wrapped around the clutch lever. ____________________ Current Bikes: 1973 Honda Cl350k5, 1976 Honda PC50k1, 1981 Honda C70 (6V) Passport, 1982 Honda C70 (12V)Passport, 1984 C70 Passport, 1989 Honda NSR125F Adriatico 2.
