Just got used to my NSR125 and feel confident to take my test. Question do I take the test and get a restricted licence ? or do chance my arm with DAS using a shitty Suzki 500GSX that I hate doing U turns on ??

The ultimate aim by the summer it to find a mint VFR400 (NC30) ! anyone know if they are worth restricting and what does the restricted NC30 perform like ?

Those bloody U Turns !!

wello Korn's got the RVF400. practically the same apart from forks and some other parts. I was looking at one of those but it was out of my price range. in the end i got my GPz for £1500.
as for doing the test, if it's direct access you HAVE to take it on a machine over 46hp (ish) so you couldn't do it on your NSR. if it's basic test then you can...but no-one here'd recommend it. use the SR's or whatever bike they loan you, they're much easier than the racy NSR for set manouvers.
happy riding!

I put me foot down on my u turn, and he said 'good' and still passed me. I think if you have a racy bike they take that into account. When they ask you to wheel your bike round and it looks really tight then make a right faff about it pulling it forwards and backwards and theyll find somewhere wider for you!!!

I took my test on a derestricted NSR 125 ( examiner didnt notice ) thinking I would be content with the power afterwards....how wrong i was. Now find it very frustrating and want to move up but the choice is narrow in what bikes to buy, either that or it is too much trouble to have it restricted. You would be better off doing direct access. Trust me. Confused

u do ur restricted access on whatever bike u choose, then buy urself something with around 50-65bhp and have it restricted to 33bhp, go home and accidently remove the restrictors, and walah u dont pay as much for ur test, cos DAS is damn expensive Smile

if you have a small crash, and nobody is injured, all u do is swop details with the person on scene and go home, fone your insurance company, they will not ask to look at the bike and everything will be fine... they will be none the wiser.

but,

if you smash the bike up and nearly die and the police come and all that shit, the insurance company will take the bike and check it, if they find no restrictors u will loose your licence and not get any compensation...

however unless you are a psycho on 2 wheels, the latter is "unlikely" to happen.... its all up to u to decide, but i no what i chose Very Happy
