https://www.thesuttonsonline.co.uk/Gaz/IMG_3627.jpg

and this type
https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/attachments/bike-sale/87737d1180106844-2001-zx6r-2nd-owner-super-clean-bikepics-460224-800.jpg

is it just the fairing thats different?
It seems like the same year... Confused

can i bolt the 2nd picys fairing onto the first one without modifying anything?

The first is a '98-'99 G model, the second a 2000-2001 J model. There were engine and chassis mods, as well as the cosmetic changes.

The first is a G and the second is a J, some bits fit both bikes.

But you will need to modify things to make the J fairings fit the G.

Engine internals are different between the two bikes. I'm not sure if the shock linkage is different, i know it's different between the F(which i've got) and the G model (green).. I wouldn't get an F model unless it was stonkingly cheap, i.e. a grand since that's how much i would value mine had i NOT crashed.

Personally, i'd go for a J model if it's about 1500, which many go for these days.

Check for disks and camchain tensioner though on those bikes.

You can fit a J model fairing to a G but will have to change the headlights over other than that im pretty sure there identical front end wise.

I'm not sure about the 6 but with the 9's you can swap the single headlight for the twin one. BUT, you also need the air intake tubes under the headlight, and the fairing brace.

I also recall something about the clocks on the later 9's being slimmer in height so you may need them if they hit the fairing.

Hope this helps.

Haha, Don't get a ninja period!

Well it's the jap equivalent of a ducati - temperamental but they sound the best of any of the bikes - their airboxes roar, get a full system on and you'll just drone into the distance.

And they'll be a massive step from an SV! You think that going from 12 to 60bhp is a rush. I was used to the IL4 delivery from my 250 days so i felt confident and capable on moving up to a 6, but i still don't feel confident on the bike - i'm faster on my 250 that my 6 through the corners. I don't think you'll be ready for the power delivery of the ninja, but that's just my opinion. Thing is, once the ram air and powerband kick in, you'll get an EXTRA burst of acceleration. You'd hit 70 in a 30 zone just by accelerating away easy if you're not used to the throttle. Since you've had issues going in a straight line on your SV, you'd get giddy on one of these IL4's and they'll bite you in the arse in a corner. IL4 6's demand respect, which many people don't really take carefully since they think it's a small bike and that it won't bite you in the arse. Brakes are better than the SV, and a sorted out J/G suspension wise will be more than capable of keeping up with modern bikes.

Personally, I don't think you're MATURE enough for a NINJA 6. You lack the finesse and deft touch to be handed down the katana blade to make you a ninja. To be honest, i don't think you're even ready for a full power bike period - keep your restrictors in, and you'll be fine. As a side note, Phantomtek (Joe) was on his SV650 for about 2 years before he moved onto a IL4 Gixxer 600 Srad and then onto his R6.
