In the wind I mean. Sitting here I've seen quite a few motorbikes and cyclists riding past. It seems a bit daft to ride in this weather when there's plenty of buses and trains around here. (Nth London)
I certainly wouldn't fancy being on a motorway.

I rode to work and back, though its a 6 mile round trip so I'm not feeling very 'ard about it. I got soaked and the crosswinds on the way back were hairy as anything!

Also got stuck in a jam on the way as yet another cager had binned it on the Henley road Laughing

Yeah, Haven't bothered insuring my car yet, and I don't like traffic anyway. The storm was overrated, it was worse a week back. Only problem was the cagers kept making really sudden braking when they realised there were twigs on the road. Instead of realising that they could just go straight over.

Usual commute. Weather wasn't too bad here wind wise. Very wet though.

I believe we are getting the gales tomorrow......oop north.

Still got to go in on bike though. Shocked

I bottled it and took the car, and to be honest I could have ridden afterall. When I checked the weather at 0700 the the gusts for the previous hour had been upto 54mph. However, as I drove in I noticed it wasn't that windy, it did get up a bit in the afternoon. By 1800 it had knocked off again, you watch I'll risk it tomorrow and it'll be a bitch between 0730-0830 and 1700-1800... Rolling Eyes

Nope - at 6.30 this morning the rain was coming in horizontally, and the neighbours wheelie bins were being blown into the road, thought it might be a good idea to get a train.

Went out for a bit to do some jobs, got absolutely drenched and blown all over the shop. Haven't been out on it for what seems like ages though so I still came back smiling. Very Happy

Pretty gusty for my 13 mile commute at 6am - I didn't really clock how bad until the crates and wheely bins began flying across the road, Donkey Kong style!

Was worth it to listen to all the cagers whining about the wind before I started the briefing, and just casually drop in "You should've tried it on a bike!".

I did a 6km round trip commute twice. Got wet on the way back from college. I was expecting a lot of wind. I've felt a lot worse, today was a breeze Very Happy

Fuckin soft southerners! Laughing
I commuted in this morning just inland from the Isle of Wight where it was supposed to be bad.

I thought someone had done a wet fart on my neck, but that's about it. Smile

I've just got back from my local pub quiz and there was only two push bikes tethered outside, Usually there's at least a dozen. The pub was quite empty all round. I think there might have been the scare factor involved on this. As every body has noticed, it wasn't as bad as it was predicted to be.

Well ain't it just typical I took the bike today, the wind was fine on the way in but a right bastard on the way back. The M48 Severn Bridge was closed and the Avonmouth bridge had a 40 mph speed limit. I came over it at 60 mph in 3rd got overtaken on the inside by a truck heading up the A4 and a car in lane 3 (4 lane carriageway).

Coming past Filton the wind was up at 36 mph with gusts up to 54 mph again, I'm soo glad the bike's with the mechanic tomorrow for a new chain and sprockets. Very Happy

What part of North London?

Rode the gsxr today to Kings X, no wind throughout the journey, well then again, I am from Scotland and we don't complain as much about the rain and wind. Laughing

Finsbury Park. In fact, the park itself is behind my house, (with the railway in between).

This is starting to piss me off now, now that the winds have moved into the north west they've closed the M6 and all the major bridges. Now I'm neither a northerner nor a southerner, but it's funny how the south west has been hit by these winds for almost a week, and the only regular action has been lower speed limits and to close the M48 bridge when it gets really bad.

So to anyone who thinks people in the south are soft, I say risk yer neck and ride in it today, it's gusting up to 54 mph, but we had 57 mph at 0600 so you still won't be as 'ard.

And as so many have been blown over, I have to ask: are truck drivers in the north stupid? Mr. Green
