Because less weight = better performance, every year we get lighter more powerful bikes , shave a bit of weight off here and there and you make the acceleration better.
Single swingers tend (not in all cases) to weigh a fair bit more than conventional swing arms.
And there is little need for them, hence its just a luxury unless you are an endurance racer,

they're class, I love a big exposed wheel on the none swing arm side. For me it was one of the main aesthetic draws of the NC30. Although I do like the racing style oversized swingarms too.
I guess the reason you don't see more is because they're expensive to implement ? Love it on the Dukes too

I like the way I can ride my VFR to the motorbike shop, undo four nuts and lift the wheel off. When they've fitted the tyre, bung it back on, four nuts and away I go.
None of this pulling the spindle out and removing the brake calliper, dropping spacers all over the place then trying to jiggle everything back into place while sliding the spindle back through. My wheel is off or on in under 1 minute, no hassle, 1 tool.

You got a clean VFR Stinkwheel... I just image your bike to be a VFR rat for some reason 
SSSA are the dogs. I've got a full VFR800 rear end (arm, disc, sprocket claipers, wheel with new tyre) waiting in my garage for the right fighter project (ie a fireblade)... also a VFR400 swingarm /rear with wheel too... I like sssa

2 main benefits really...
Wheel can be removed and replaced pretty damn quick.
And the Rear brake disk is in the center line of the bike. Supposedly giving more stable braking mid corner etc.
They do look f**king cool too. |

Well, most people wouldn't regard it as 'clean'. 'Dirty' would probably be more appropriate but yes, it is without serious modification.
I aint messed with it because I do too many miles on it and ride it too fast to be takign a chance with altering stuff. I have learned before that once you get over a certain speed, even small changes to the aerodynamics can make a huge difference.
Try riding a GPZ500 at anything over 120mph without a belly pan on. It's ok as long as you don't mind weaving slowly from edge to edge of your lane.
Remember the original ethos of a RAT bike is one that is ridden all the time and maintained at minimum cost. As such, the VFR is a rat, I don't spend money on cosmetics and fripperies, I got a stainless ehxaust because it wont rust, not because it looks good.
The best way to keep a bike like that on the road and working well for minimum cost is to keep it serviced and keep it standard. The only deviations should be in items that make it either easier to ride and work on or more reliable.
A VFR is a good rat bike because it is inherantly reliable in the first place. The 750 in particular on account of it's hugely robust engine (gear driven cams, no VTEC etc.). If it had a shaft drive or an enclosed chain, it would be perfect.
