Confused about driving lisence!

I had my lisence taken off me a year ago for getting 6 points within 2 years.

A few days ago on March 10th I had another court appearance for a driving offence. I sent my letter of mitigating circumstances with it etc

Now I've just had my lisence back through the post with an extra 3 points written on it. This means I SHOULD lose it again as I've accumulated more than 6 points within the first two years (again). Or maybe they read my mitigation letter and decided not to take it off me?

I have a sneaky feeling DVLA are going to write to me soon and ask for my lisence to be sent in, but shouldn't the courts have sent it off? anyone know what's going on?

Someone may correct me on this but I "think" once the license is taken away the points are wiped and you start again.

Not so sure about that mate, after I re-applied for my lisence theyre still on the counterpart. If they where wiped surely it wouldn't have anything on it?

Not sure if revoked is the same strategy as a ban . . . seems strange.

I have 3 points too.

Have to ride like a nun. If I get anymore it'll be so hard to get insured at decent money.
