I have a 97 Blade. I am looking at how much replacement end cans are but I cannot marry up the type I have.

It seems my year of bike should have a 3-bolt type:

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C03%5C15%5Cbikepics-1217177-full.jpg

but my bike has just a normal clamp fitting:

So what do I look for as I cant find cans that have a slip on fitting of say 55mm.

Thanks.

Is the akra designed to be using with an akra link pipe maybe?

Is your current can the original, someone could of got slip on and use the normal clamping method.

No, it's a Scorpion race can.

I see what your saying about the Ackrapovic link pipe but I have looked at a few can manufacturers and if you tab through the bike model drop downs until you get to 1997 Fireblade, they mention "3-bolt type". Confused

Slip ons are usually cheaper and more universal.

If you can find out the size of the pipe and all that pretty much any slip on should fit.

Your bike appears to have a Micron system on it.

Wish I could help you there, but I have no idea.

May be worth searching ebay for slip ons.

Or give a pm to Type_Mo as he can get some.

Micron have weird sized link pipes. I found this on the bandit.

Normal slip on is 50mm, but my old Micron was 54mm I think.
Sickpup sounds right on the money.

Why shock? 64mm is pretty much a standard.

It may well by Micron up to the can, there are no distinguishing marks. However, the can is Scorpion.

The clamp, as you can see , says 51-55, so the size is somewhere therein.

If I can find the exact size, is it possible that this would be the norm, for say, a ZX9-R, R1 etc that would broaden my horizon for searching. Or is the norm for other bikes along the line of the 3-bolt?

Ta muchly.
Thumbs Up

So if I am to purchase a slip on, it is the link pipe diameter I go by, not the can itself?

If you find a can that you like but is slightly larger ID than your link-pipe's OD, you can either have an adapter made or have the link-pipe expanded slightly to suit.
