Ok so i really hurt my FZR, and looks like its either sell it whole to anyone who wants a project, sell it for parts or track hack it.
What would you do? i have near mint original fairings that are rarer than solid gold dancer, and the bike needs forks, downpipes and a alternator cover and the obvious peg to be made track worthy, or even road worthy.
But i dont know as this bike needs a new engine (gearbox is missing gears) carb needs 1 diaphram and float heights setting to make it mechanically sound.

With the track situation, How often would you use it do you think?

If its something you won't use for a long period of time I'd sell it and get as much as possible. Or if you go to many track days.. keep it as then you don't have to risk your other bike or something Smile

Thumbs Up

If the bike needs engine work, I'd just be selling it - sounds like too much hassle for a bike that isn't worth much in the first place Smile.

I would need to get my ACU license and to do that i'd need to pass medicals as i'm diabetic thats if i even get the chance to get that far, so if i do get my ACU license then i'd be doing alot of track days on it when time/money allows.

Do you not have a road licence Confused.

Engine work usually means expense in my experience, even if you're doing it yourself; just the cost of gaskets etc all adds up.

A good track bike usually also means a good fast/fun road bike.
However, for a half decent track bike you're going to want half decent suspension and the like. Selling it and buying a bike where someone has spent on most of the expensive stuff already generally makes more sense.

Well makes sense i spose. well the insurance has been "settled" so i guess it breaking time unless some one wants it for a thundercat engine swap or w/e?

Just in case you haven't realised... the reason G asked if you have a road license (which I know you do) is because you don't need an ACU license just to do track days, only to actually race. So if you can ride on the road with diabetes (which of course you can) then you can do a track day regardless.

Ah i see, well what about 33bhp license? will i still be allowed say a 600cc full powered bike on a track day even though i have a restricted license?

Some companies won't allow a 33hp licence, others will.

ACU groups tend to be pretty fast with some very, very fast riders in as well some just moderately fast.
Generally you can only go out in the ACU group if you're using an ACU licence

It's a lot harder to find days with ACU groups.

Stick to tracks that are fine with a 33hp licence. No one will dyno your bike to check.

Your the man G, will look into finding a track bike to play on, just have to find buyers for the FZR parts. Sad

A decent track bike - Alot of people seem to have fun on the 400s or something like that, and I've seen a lot of people advised to have/stick with 400s. I don't know a lot mate but i hope it helps Smile

Just scrap it.

One less 400 on the road wasting petrol that could be put to good use.

The MSV circuits (brands, snetterton, cadwell and oulton) don't like 33hp, others are generally ok - check first, though.

Don't think they even checked my licence at Mallory!

Pretty much, yes. However some have blagged it. If you can't get a refund, might as well try and blag it Smile.
Having an ACU licence would be unlikely to help - as mentioned you'd have to be at a trackday that had an ACU group, which very few do.

Whats the point splashing even more cash into a bike thats already cost a lot and is more than likely to break again in a day, a week or a month?

Been there done that, just get rid for a low BIN price on eBay as is.

I sold it as a whole to a breaker in less than 2 hours from putting it on .

Don't be greedy or too stubborn and you'll be rid with a few £ in the old back burner.

Taken from the Hottrax website...

Quote:
'Licence and Age Requirements for Cadwell Park
You must be over 18 years of age to ride on a track day at Cadwell Park, Oulton Park, Snetterton and Brands Hatch
You must produce either of the following licences to take part:
a) a full category A DVLA motorcycle road driving licence. This must not be restricted. (Photo card or paper licence)
b) a recognised competition licence of any level (ACU/FIM International etc.)'

So i would be able to do it if i had my ACU Sad Oh well, i'll do anglesey the day before Laughing

Sorry for the thread hijack! Karma

Daz.
