I bought a scooter from a mate for £100, for the wife to ride in the summer, I rode it home and noticed a scraping noise from the front wheel when braking or turning.

It turns out that one of the many crashes my mate has had involved a rabbit, a swerve and a 30mph crash head on into a ditch.

While most of the damage was cosmetic, it seems that the wheel is now a little close to the bodywork and has worn a nice hole in the plastic undertray.

This scooter has passed an mot recently, unbelievably.

I used abit of bfi to attempt to pull it out using a ratchet strap and a lamp post but to no avail.

short of getting the bike strapped to a lamp post and pulling away in the car with the front wheel of the bike attatched, does anyone have a more sensible suggestion?

It's not life threatening but seeing as she hasn't ridden before, it might be a little disconcerting for her.

Cheers.

toss the thing in the nearest skip..its crash damaged!,i cant believe you would even consider letting your wife loose on something like that. And i would check out the MOT as that is suspect as well

Sounds like something got a bit bent.... Now it could just be the bodywork, but then again it could be the forks.....
Take the bodywork off and have a very close look at the frame etc.

Oh and get plenty of life ins on the Mrs Wink
