 |
|
Hi fellas,
New to the boards so before I go ahead and ask you a question i'd like to say a big hello to all the fellow bikers out there.
I have just bought a 2001 NSR which has all the restrictions in place, and I am going to remove them, but the bike only does 60MPH and will not rev past 8000rpm, now from what I understand about UK spec NSR's is that they are restricted in the exhaust and the air intake, but usually as stock they will do 75mph even with the restrictions in place.
Do you think that the bike has been restricted via the CDI unit as it seems a tad strange that the bike will only do 60mph and will only rev to 8000rpm.
Just incase you wondered I am not a learner, I actually bought the bike as a fun little run around and it was cheap, my other bike is a 04 HM Plant blade, but that only comes out when the sun is shining, I want to use the NSR to go to and from work on a daily basis, but still want to be able to overtake if I need to. |

i think you know a bit but this bit is very small . dont say things idiots like "washer in the throttle" or "people sold their original electronics and replace by cheaper model" !
after 15 years of practice & mechanics on this bike i can speak about it , which is certainly not your case !
i wrote several documents with mates that you can download here https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRtips.doc
after reading it you may be able to argue ____________________ the worst day fishing is better than the best day working |

the CDI restriction would act as a rev limiter wouldnt it??
does it bounce off the revs? like screeeeeee bingbingbingbing at high RPM?
can you redline in any gears? ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

mostly CDI are restricted by a bad curve of ignition timming
for exemple the CI639 has a nice curve 2000-4500 then the curve has a limitation until 6500 , afterwards curve is ok and a limitation appears at 10500 (note that the CI626A do the same)
on the CI626 the curve is not optimum until 7000 then you feel the quick but no limitation appears over 10500
if you've got a race pipe and your valves well tuned 12200 is possible in all gears (this is what i've got) . obviously you wont reach red zone on climbing due to the weight
actually mate of mine is testing a programmable system from https://www.zeeltronic.com/page/honda.php
note that the alternator charge on the CR250 gives the same voltage as the NSR125R (200VAC) ____________________ the worst day fishing is better than the best day working |
