07 R1 or Fireblade?

Hi All

After a new bike and it's between these two, I've been offered good deals on both but really cannot decide.

Has anyone changed from the blade (underseat exhaust model) to the R1 or vice-versa?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Having ridden both for around twenty minutes, I feel adequately qualified to comment on both.

The R1 felt more of an animal over the Fireblade, but over all, take both out for test rides, and see which you prefer. Neither are exactly 'tame and boring'.

I've had four Blades now, two 954's and an 05 & 06 1000RR. I had an 05 R1 in the middle of the two 1000RR's and only kept it for 5 months. It may be my riding style but it just didn't cut it like the Blades, with the exception of the 05 1000RR. It was slower to turn in and using a line that's usually thrown Hondas way, I just found it bland. The 06/07 Blade is a better bike. It's the Bike Honda should have made as a natural evolution from the 954.

The R1 was a great looking bike and something I'd wanted to own ever since the legendary 98 machine. It was sorted with a PCIII, DB screen, R&G's, etc, but it just didn't grab me the way the Blades did. Nice bike but just not the whole package, for me anyway.
