Its getting to that point in the year that us softies are contemplating taking the inner liners out of the jackets and trousers, leaving the neck socks at home and squishing hands into crisp racing summer gloves.

However, I'm sweating like a pig even in this weather. I wear my uniform under the textiles and the thought of summer approaching is just making me perspire even more.

So summer wardrobes?

Is there such a thing?

Fair enough, didn't think of that. I tend to ride at night!

Agreed it's still too cold here to change yet, I tried my leather trousers the other week and as they go inside my boots my feet where freezing.

Anyway when the "summer" finally gets here I shall dispense with the windproof leggings and top, zip the thermal fleece liners from my jacket and trousers (eventually moving to the leather trousers), swap my winter gloves for my summer gloves, only wear the one thin neck buff, and just wear a thin pair of ankle socks. But as is the way here, I leave the waterproof liner in my jacket and carrying a pair of over trousers in my tank bag. Neutral

Leather or textile?

Leather in the summer is like a polyester pair of underpants, sweat city?

Other way round surely? Textiles keep water out, and generally keep it in.
I wore textile trousers last summer, if you were to smell them, you would die.

Textiles for the cold.

Leather for the warm!

TFL leather to the rescue Wink

In the heat, although they are wearable in the summer, I get hotter quicker if I have to stop in my textiles than in my leathers. The leather jacket cools down quicker once I'm moving again to boot. Thumbs Up

*edit*

For reference, both suits are HG, Tricky II GTX textile suit and Tricky II TFL cool for the leathers. Astars SMX4 Waterproof boots regardless and currently favoring Astars techroad GTX gloves, I quite fancy a pair of GP techs for the summer though Smile

I'm going to invest in some textile black/grey camo gear that seems to be all the rage. With removeable inner lining. Nice!

Leather trousers at the moment with thermals underneath. Twofold, keep me warm and stops sticking.

I wear leather all year round whatever the weather, I just dont like textile... I have been wearing my alpinestars octane gloves all through winter and have stayed relatively comfortable despite them being very ventilated summer gloves, I only wear a neck sock on the coldest days too that said I have my thermal liner in my leathers to keep warm Very Happy

I will be changing my kit for summer, hopefully a few times when the products come in for testing on bikechatter but I dont wear specific summer/winter clothes depending on the season.

cheers

leigh Very Happy
