After looking around on the net i have came across the following bikes and wondered if anyone has heard of them aswell, and knows if they are any good.

Kaisar XTR125
Yuan Renegade (125-23)

I know they are chinese bikes, and all i really need it for is to do my test and to use as a run around for the few months after it aswell to do with work, i would just like to know about peoples personal experiences. They cost about £1200 (OTR) each. Also if anyone does have one or knows of a few companies that provides insurance for chinese bikes it would be appreciated. Thanks

General rule Chinese bikes = shite

better just getting a cg 125 for a few months for 500 quid and selling it for the same price or if you want something a bit sporter a cbr. Theres loads to choose from but i would stick with the main makes.

Look up 'crap' in the dictionary. It says something along the lines of:

Crap
–noun
1. Vulgar.
a. excrement.
b. an act of defecation.
2. Slang: Sometimes Vulgar.
a. nonsense; drivel.
b. falsehood, exaggeration, propaganda, or the like.
3. refuse; rubbish; junk; litter: Will you clean up that crap!
–verb (used without object)
4. see 'chinese motorcycle'

A quick google reveals:

Kaisar XTR125

Yuan Renegade 125
https://www.simotors.co.uk/res/img/catalogue/product/XGJ12523GRNLjpg-norm.jpg

A couple of Honda CBR125 clones. What Bike? recently tested the Yuan I think against the Honda and said that even though it was cheap, it felt like it, though it didn't come out too badly.

However, most people on here would probably recommend you go for a second hand Honda CBR. And most people here don't even like the CBR, so you see what I'm getting at...

If it looks too good to be true, it is too good to be true!
You'll be better off buying something thats a few years old, easer to re-sell when you do your test, you'll loose less money and its less liekly to fall apart as you ride.

Any chinese bike is worth nothing as soon as you buy it. No-one wants them second hand. Any japanese £500 125 is going to be worth pretty much the same as you paid for it six months later.

Want one that looks like the bikes you've mentioned? Buy a CBR125 (they are just bad copies of it).

Want one thats just good value and has legendary reliability? Buy a CG125.

in the early 60s jap bikes were crap and you wouldnt touch one with a barge pole now there good fast reliable bikes
so if you really want a chinese bike fine get one but just wait another 10-20 years first..lol
i beleave chinese bikes will be up there with jap bikes in the future but for now there just shite

just my 2 cents worth

I agree with you. They are getting better.

I was happy with my chinese bike, it did the job, it just wasn't really worth the money. They spolied it, by skimping on things. Stupid things, like screws too short, not enough chrome. Faulty fuel guage - why bother fitting it.

They will get there in the end. But right now, I'd still advise against a new one for a 1st bike.

Not always, bought a brand new Giantco Crusader (Chinese 125) for £1000 in 2005. Used it for 6 months and sold it for £1350.

That's not really true for all of them.

I bought a second hand Jinlun cruiser over a year ago. Did me proud as a learner and never let me down once. Didn't rust to bits, fall to bits, catch on fire or any of the stuff I commonly hear about chinese bikes. Much less of a leap getting on the 500 than if I'd been riding around on a little cg for a year (u-turns were a piece of piss - easier on the ER5 I did my test on).

I've just sold it for only slightly less than what I paid for it (and the guy was over the moon with it), and that was only for a quick sale as the guy made me an offer to end early. I'm confident it would have made a bit more if I'd let the auction run. One day into the auction someone offered me £125 more than I actually paid for it in the first place (and £100 more than the buy now price I'd set) if I was able to deliver, but it was a bit far for me at the time so passed it up.

This was for a 2 year old bike that'd had two owners.

I don't doubt that the finish on them isn't quite up to honda standards, but as a first bike that you're going to learn on then want something bigger a few months to a year later, they're not too bad really if you look after them.

Having said that, I've heard some horror stories about other chines brands, and I haven't heard of this maker, so probably best to tread carefully. All manufacturers don't seem to be the some and some are obviously better than others.

Despite my low expectations, the Jinlun I bought did me proud. Bigger and nicer looking than a CG, only a year old when I bought it (same price I would have got a donkeys years old cg), came with luggage etc., probably a bit faster than a cg (twin engine) and made back my money when I sold it. Owes me nothing.

I dont doubt there are exceptions. But i still think i'm right, as a general rule.

There are folks on BCF who've had the headstock on the bike give way as they were riding along, not to mention any number of other horror stories. And i'm sure they'll get better, but at the moment, they're shit and i wouldn't touch them with yours.

I was looking at 125cc cruisers, & of course had the dozens of chinese makes thrown at me on the internet!, I spent a couple of days reading reviews on them

Out of makes such as 'Kinroad' , 'Lifun' 'Zongshen' etc, etc, the Jinlun had by far the best reviews, they appear to have listened to customer feedback & made improvements with their latest models on electrics & the general build quality etc

Going by what was said about the other makes Crying or Very sad I think the Jinlun would be the only make I would look twice at, they also seem to have made the best progress on the spares availability/dealers/insurance & servicing & they even have a UK owners club & Forum Surprised

My trouble is I'm not interested in the 2-smoke sports replicas (had a Aprilia RS125 & hated it!), & I want something that looks a bit better than a CG, so I'm really up for getting a 125cc crusier to learn on, I've always liked cruiser style bikes anyway, I'm more interested in comfort than speed.

Going off topic abit sorry! -

I was considering a Jinlun JL-125 13 - anyone got one (a new one), or had one, my problem is I've only got 1K to spend, & I would like a Honda rebel, or a Suzuki VL Intruder - but you are still looking at £1200+ for a decent one, even 6 years old plus.

Hi Smile

best place is https://jinlun-owners.co.uk for jinlun cruisers & goto forums Smile

Today i just ordered a jinlun after spending the past few days getting info/advice off the forums there.

Very helpful guys & lots of info about the jinlun 11 & 13 cruisers Smile

I was in the same situation as you, i wanted a 125 but im not into the sports types etc or scooters & im going to be using it for commuting back & forth to work as well as long distance journeys on my days off from work Smile , so after some research i narrowed it down to a few (Lifan/Pioneer/Kinroad & Jinlun) Jinlun won hands down...

Best support (https://jinlun-owners.co.uk)
Easy to get parts from authorised dealers in UK of Jinny's (i live in UK)
Parts are VERY cheap to buy compared to Honda/Suzuki etc
Reliable
Well built & based off the Honda Engine (Kinroad is based on the suzuki engine)
Looks nice!
Best of all around... £1100 On The Road/Taxed/Warranty (parts not just labour!) & Regd/PDI'd etc Smile

Also alot of mods for it, such as slash cuts which give the jinny a nice sound & only £80! ...loads of custom mods available etc.. so you can customize it your own way Smile

& Also the jinlun is twin cylinder which for these types of bikes (cruisers) is very nice to have.

To those that say "dont buy a chinese bike bla bla" have you owned/used all types? because you heard bad stories about some or owned a duff one... dont mean that all are like that, but dont take my word for it, pop over & have a read of the forums over at jinlun owners forums where 100's of OWNERS use them daily Wink

One guy went from john-o-groats to lands end with no problems on a jinny 125, Some have travelled Europe with next to no problems, this alone speaks for its self that the jinny Is one of the better ones out there Wink

Look after your bike, it will look after you!....

Like any bike, the key to a good/lasting bike is looking after them, more so with jap bikes due to cheaper parts being used as a substitute. So as long you look after her, she will last you a long time with very few/basic problems.

Yes there are some problems with them, but compared to what ive read about other jap bikes, the jinlun seems to have the least problems..

Certain nuts/bolts comming lose after a while - easily solved by checking regulary (once a week) or replacing with better quality ones & using loktite etc... this is only in certain areas of the bike so its not EVERY where! & to what ive read its hit & miss.. some people had that problem where others haven't.. i also read its been sorted with the newer models ... 07 onwards.

Cheap air filter (clogs up easily causing probs) - easily solved using a K&N filter (£about 15)

Poor Quality Chain (known to stretch) - Replace with a heavy duty one. (about £20) ..keep stock chain for run-in procedure then replace with better quality one which will last you a long time with no stretch.

Time will tell as this year will be the 1st batch of MOT tests.. then we will see what parts are weak etc Smile ..but like i say, if you buy it new or 07 onwards.. most of the problems have been sorted & unlike other jap makes, Jinlun listen to the feedback on there products & do something about it shold there be any problems.

Hope this helps! Smile

Daz

wtf!? just typed loads of info then it didnt post? ..oh well.. cba typing it all again (such reliable forums eh!!)

Cut a long story short, get a jinny you wont be dissapointed, visit here .. www.jinlun-owners.co.uk to read 100's of posts in the forums from OWNERS who use them daily & not people who just say they are cr@p based on what they have heard about OTHER japanese/chinese bikes. & i bet none of them have never owned a jinny or looked after one as they should! Smile

Jinnys have travelled from lands end to john-o-groats & travelled over europe with next to no problems. Dont just take my word for it, read for yourself over @ jinlun-owners.

Jinny's was the 2nd best selling cruiser of 2007 in the UK, need i say more Wink

Just remember a jinny 11/13 is a cruiser, hence dont expect to have tons of power or blistering speeds! ..the jinny 125 will cruise along nicely at around 60mph top end about 70ish.

Lots of mods available for it, such as slash cuts for £80 which give it a nice sound, infact ive never heard any 125 sound like a jinny with slash cuts, a 250 yup, but not a 125!

as for the difference between the 11 & 13...

13 is shorter in size & has pegs for the gears, whereas the 11 has a foot pedal type (Heal & toe) & is also slightly bigger in size overall.

The 11 also has a fatter front tire & different styles of the wheels(see pics below) the 11 is the best selling/most popular out of the 2 but costs about £100 more than the 13.

Jinny 11: (Exactly same colored as one ive ordered! Smile )
