Hello I have a 92 GSX 600f I have put in new NGKs and cleaned the MAIN JETS and IDLE JETS floats and bowls. I put it all back together with supervision from a bike mechanic and it ran, but could not get it to idle smoothly. So I have made adjustments to idle air screws to 2 and a half turns, and tried synchronizing and that didnt help. Also it seems to me that it might be running mostly on the 1 and 4 carb the most. WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW???
THANK YOU!!

Check for air leaks around the carb mounts.

What are you setting the idle speed to?
Did you synch the carbs or did you have to give up?
Did you check the float height on each carb?
How does it run off idle?
Have you checked that the plug leads are the right way round?

Thank you for your help my friend everything you mentioned was stuff that I did not check. When I put the airbox on, the 2 outsides fit perfectly on the carbs but the 2 on the inside doesnt want fit over the carbs perfectly, I never thought that would be a problem.

I adjusted the air/idle screws 2 and a half turns from CLOSED. A mechanic friend told me that HALF A TURN IS CONSIDERED A FULL TURN.
I might be pretty STUPID but when I tried to synchronize the carbs the 2 inside carbs wasnt giving me any vacuum. Could the little gap that I have between the airbox boot and carb be the problem????
I dont know how to check the float height, do I need a special tool to do that?
When I do get it running it fouls my plugs QUICKLY and it smells like it is running rich. My bike is at a bike shop and the mechanic doesnt have a clue about what I should do he says that I need to buy new carbs. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR WISDOM AND HELP!!!!!

half a turn IS NOT a full turn any where in the known universe,
your ill fitting carbs are your complete problem, fit them correctly,
and then re-adjust your idle screw, then give your mechanic a kick up the arse.
if you still have vacume problems after your airbox on on correctly, then i would be looking at valve clearances.. and if they turn out ok, i would do a compression test to make sure your rings and valves are ok

Well here goes I put the bike back together and tightened every screw and nut so there are no air leaks at all. I turned the air screws the RIGHT WAY 2.5 turns out from closed position and its still running rich fouling plugs and does not idle smoothly. Also seems as though the bike is not running on all 4 carbs I am LOST!!
My so called mechanic says I need new carbs and I just dont think so because she does start and run, the engine has good compression and is very strong. Before I put the airbox on I put my hand over each carb 1 at a time and tried starting and each one is sucking gas and air. Cylinders 1 and 4 are working the most and cylinders 2 and 3 are fouling the plugs black very quick and I dont get hardly no vacuum from 2 and 3 My bike is at a mechanic shop and I have access to all his tools just dont know what to do PLEASE help I am out of IDEAS
