Has anyone bought from queensbury motorcycles in sowerby bridge? I'm going to look at a bike today so need to know if they're reputable! It doesn't come with a warranty and he doesn't allow test rides for obvious reasons. He sounded like a really genuine bloke on the phone and said if it's not right he'll give me a full refund.

Please get back as soon as possible as i'm leaving soon! Cheers people, most appreciated.

If he is a trader then you legally have some sort of warrenty with him and why wont he let you take it out if you leave a deposit ?

Once he has your money who says he will give you it back ?

He might be sound as a pound but I wouldn't buy from there

Even if you are young, If you show him the cash/card and let him know how serious you are, you shouldent buy without a testride...

Get to the point of nearly completing the deal, then say something along the lines of "Ok well everything sounds in order, will just need to give a quick test ride before i buy", If he wont let you perhaps bells should ring...

Also if he says it does not come with warranty, all you have is his "word" over the phone that he will give you a full refund, if you do go ahead, make sure you get that in writing from him, signed. If he puts down "Sold as seen" or anything like that you will not be getting a refund if it blows up at the end of the road....

I assume you are taking the full amount to buy the bike, If you offer to leave the asking price with him as a deposit, on the basis you are not buying it yet, but will if everything is ok and you want it...
and he still wont let you test ride the bike walk away then and there...

Sounds like he is selling sheds if its a dealer that offers not even a 1 month warranty.

And if he doesent offer a warrenty ask yourself why you are buying from a dealer, why not go private? you could likely get a better price...

I would find a dealer that would let me out on one. Every test ride I’ve had, I’ve just left my driving licence behind with £500 and signed to say I will buy it if I bin it.

Hi,

If he's a (registered) trader or a dealer then he has to offer a kind of warranty by law. (He may of course be unregistered, but this is a bit iffy in the eyes of the law and I wouldn't go near him with a ten foot bargepole).

The way this works is, if the bike goes wrong within six months of the sale date, then the onus is on him to prove that the fault was not on the bike at the time of sale.

This means that if the bike has some serious fault when you buy it, he has to take reasonable steps to return the bike to a decent state or you can take action against him. I'm not sure how far this goes, or how much this covers, or what happens to him if he doesn't do it though.

What it basically means is, if the bike has a fault that you miss when you buy it, he has to repair it (I think). If the bike develops a fault later on (and he can prove that the bike was OK when sold - not sure how he would accomplish this) then you have to pay to fix the bike yourself.

Someone may be able to correct me on the finer points of this, but I think you get the gist of it.

i heard a lot of dealers can't afford the insurance for test rides, maybe this is why

Yeah thats near me, I've been told hes dodgy by a mate and I've been down a few times and though he does seem ok I would keep your wits about you. Always do a hpi and never sign away your right to a warranty.

You have to weigh up whether its cheap enough to warrant all the shit that will come your way if it does go pear shaped.

What confuses me why is it called Queensbury in Sowerby Bridge.

Saying that I had one bike that had come from them, when it was in Queensbury. It was a cat d write off.
