125cc, which one to choose?

hi im 17 and looking to buy a 125cc moped

i like the look of the gilera DNA but my mate was telling me how they are pretty unreliable

my next thought is probably to go for a gilera runner 125...

any ideas on which ones are reliable and not so mean on insurance?

Get yourself something like a Honda XL125.

They are big, Robust, Fast enough, Go off road. And its the sort of thing you can leave standing in a garage for 6 months, and it will start first or second kick.

Also quite cheap to come by, Cheap to insure, and if you look after it, It will never de-value as its a classic.


Then get yer bloody test done before October!

geared 125s are faster than 125 scooters aswel

i'd recommend the dt125 aswel

do you mean DAS or CBT? if it's a CBT then yes you can ride anything under the ~14bhp power limit, and to be honest, if you did mean DAS you would of had to do a CBT a few days before it so you'll still be alright on a geared 125 technically.

i have a gilera runner 180 2 stroke and i think its great

a 125 2 stroke runner would have been a far more practical first bike than my rs125

personnally i reckon whatever u get, it should be unrestricted 2 stroke

You can ride a geared 125 that is under 14.6bhp (I think) without doing any more training/testing. Geas are piece of piss, learn and get a decent bike.

Also, Gileras are not at all reliable.
