hi everyone im 17 years old and im building my first streetfighter. its a gsxr400 gk76a (built on a budget). i got it cheap at 250 pounds because the bloke i got it off didnt know why it wasnt running. i had a snoop about and i saw that one of the spark plugs was cracked and two spark plug caps were bust. so i bought it from him for which i considered a bargain! later i found out that he had put some water out of a jerry can into the bike thinking it was petrol (bit silly i know) so i drained the carbs and put some fresh petrol in and it fired up and ran as sweet as i could have hoped for. after that i started the fabrication and body work and im currently doing it.

I have some pictures here of what ive done so far. please comment on what you think!

thanks for taking time to look at my post.

That's shit hot mate. Seems like you got a bargain aswell - £250?!!

How did you go about making your own pipes?

Could you re-upload the first 4 pictures in their original size? They're a little small and hard to see the finishing touches.

it is the original size, i took them with a camera phone sorry. i made the pipes out of normal exaust pipe n cutting and gas welding to get them to shape. i got the clamps from beowulf and made the end cans out of the old one (its at my dads house and he has a load of other end cans and things) i found 2 ends to match and riveted it all together.

im looking into getting the link pipes chromed but i might end up just spraying them black. the bike is going to be black and red i think.

going to spray them myself ill upload a picture of my scooter i did when i was 17.

that looks like an awesome project!

i did my GSXR streetfighter at 17 on one hell of a budget... after paying £200 for it, i got it MOT'd for a further £140, this was just new tyres and a brake lever, all the rest was bodged together with electrical tape, zip ties, prayers and rivets.

heres a pic of it.

Before

After

https://aycu16.webshots.com/image/41335/2006014286839050960_rs.jpg

aaand then i blew it up 6 months after passing my test

https://aycu34.webshots.com/image/41073/2006085171981602425_rs.jpg

just given it a top end rebuild, just the effort of getting the engine back in the frame.

must admit though, the riding position on it was fucking awesome! plus it gives you more chance to get the wheelies up.

GIX400's like wheelies. lots.
im a bit shit at them though, my personal best is like 50 meters, about 20 of which were at balancing point, so room for improvement.
