...yes, a boycott of bikers going to North Wales.

Given the police there seem to target bikers by any devious means necessary and what appears totally biased.

So what if bikers stopped going there?
yes, it would affect certain businesses there. That can be a good thing as local people complaining to their local politicians about the behavior of their local police affecting their livelihood has to be a good thing. IMO it'll certainly do more than a lot of outsiders bleating on about it.

Obvious downsides are that
(a) it'll make the road accident statistics w.r.t. bikers look good, so they'll carry on as it obviously is working Rolling Eyes
(b) it'll stop bikers using some great roads.

Upside is that we'll find other roads and areas to spend our time and hard earned cash in.

So what do you think?

Another alternative protest was to have a mass ride out at legal speeds. However, as a one or two day thing the powers that be would just shrug their shoulders and forget about it.

Now boycotts on the other hand have a long history and can be shown to be successful (anyone remember apartheid?).

Thumbs Up

Mass rideout to the North Wales police HQ where all bikes will then do the biggest ever organised burnout!

Revving of engines, blocking of roads, backfires, burnouts, all sorts.

Nah, IMO not good.
Will only reinforce the impression and stereotype that bikers are antisocial morons.

...I'm not saying all bikers are saints but why backup existing prejudice.

Now something like mass ride to North Wales Police HQ and hand in a massive petition might work. Or better still turn up at a meeting of the police authority. After all the police, and the police authority (aka the politicians) are there to serve their community. If the community doesn't think they're doing that then they're out of a job.

You can hand in a petition whilst doing a one-handed burnout. Best of both Wink

I think a boycott would make them believe that they have won. Pure and simple.

They are too stupid/ready to believe that their strategy works to realise that it is a protest.

Better to flood the area with bikers, as many law abiding ones as possible. piss 'em right off!

Ride in a massive group without your number plates on and speed past every camera. They can't catch a massive group of 100+ riders Cool

Probably be easier to catch a big group rather than a lone rider, less places to hide.

you'd have to split up as soon as they were on to you. Wink

How about we arrange some cars (not involving bikers, see?) to crash into the horse box etc, while doing the speed limit.
"I suddenly panicked seeing the hidden camera last mine; hit the (non-ABS) brakes hard thinking I might have been going too fast, because I was concentrating on the road ahead not the speedo."

Apart from incredible boredom, probably leading to loss of concentration and an accident.

Even police offering training/assessment expect people to break national speed limits.

A Boycott of N. Wales would not work as Brunstrom would see that as a Victory and continue to persecute Bikers who have to live there.

A Mass ride of civil disobedience is the only way forward. Just make sure you are totally legal and riding within the speed limit. You don't even need to go anywhere near N.Wales Police HQ. Just a day trip to Holyhead will do, or Bala, or even Ffestiniog.

The resources they will have to throw at one ride involving 100 bikes will basically strip N.Wales of all it's traffic plod and the Helicopter. If this is done every single weekend throughout the summer, Brunstroms budget will be spent inside 6 weeks and Central Government will NOT cover it.

N.Wales Police will be forced to re prioritise it's operational budget and Brunstrom's anti biker crusade will be forced to a halt. Forever.

Theoretically speaking of course..... Wink

Yeah police harassment is designed to discourage bikers from visiting, so a boycott is really playing into their hands.

Im sure Brunstrom would ban sportsbikes if he could, so not having any visit north wales wouldnt really make him cry.

To be fair, there is probably so little crime in North Wales, they have to justify their existence somehow, and anti speeding policing is a good way to make your name.

Drug crime is rife in N.Wales along with the theft and burglaries that usually accompany a population of druggies. There was complaints last year about Brunstrom's attitude towards Drug Crime as he basically wanted to give up the fight and attack it another way, thus freeing up his operational budget for more Traffic police.

Kay Burley on Sky News upset him though, she asked if he meant it's ok to take smack but not to do a couple of miles over the speed limit?

He got quite uppity about that. Laughing

I'm quite happy to boycott going to North Wales, or any part of Wales for that matter.
Why?
Because Wales is a shit country, populated mostly by wankers, if i never go there again it will be a thousand years too soon.
The same goes for Scotland.

there will still be less than there is in the big cities. So I meant less relatively.

But its its got to be a lot easier to pursue speeders than burglars, and drug users. Must be more satisfying as you get to show results for your efforts.

Nice one Kay Burley Smile

I've only been once on the bike and I didn't speed.

Saying that all the publicity has put me off visiting North Wales, cameras in Horse Boxes is just wrong as is targeting people going 4 miles over the limit, more so than burglars.

What I don't agree with is traffic violations in Wales affecting my English license.

When in Ireland I only have to pay fines I don't get points on my license over here.

The same goes for Scotland as well, they are separate countries to England with their own parliaments, laws and currencies. If they want to be strict on their own citizens then so be it, but not foreigners.

Lots of us could just meet and go really slow around the whole place.

That would be annoying.
