Hi folks , been on the road a week now and loving it !

what i need is a chain lock, after paying out for the bike/lid/insurance/cbt etc , im low on funds at mo, so i need something thats cheapish , just a chain lock i can take with me thats not silly heavy, just to lock my bike to things if i say nip in the shops or a mates house etc , needs to be fairly cheap/reasonable priced, and not easy to break, just something that stops the opportunist really and keeps my bike from being able to be moved

or even the lower end insurance approved ones ??

and when i can afford il get a real decent one

any advice appriciated

thanks people Very Happy

Big-fuck-off Oxford chain for the win.

As for cheapy, a halford's one will suffice.

Go to any bike shop and they will have a selection of cheapo chains that will no doubt provide what you're after.

Bear in mind that the Oxford chains are nothing like the good quality expensive jobbies like Almax or that other British brand (Toby R will remember)...

the almax ones start at £60 up tho, bit out of my range at the moment, il spend a ton on one in a couple of months, i just need one thats reasonable for now, mainly just to secure my bike when i go round mates etc, so no one can move it, not to stop a tooled up professional, just one that can stop the clueless opportunist without cutting tools or attempting to wheel it away form outside a shop or anything

I would honestly get someone to lend you the money for a good one as a cheap one is just a visual deterent and not worth spending the money on. You may be better getting one of the disc locks with an alarm built into them. At least you will be able to hear if someoune tries to make off with the bike.

Look on ebay, a lock and chain can have few hidden problems bought from someone with decent feedback.
