How much does it all cost? Rather than fight my way through their crap help system I though it would be better to ask the experienced.

From what I can work out the insertion fee is the same as for anything else on there, so maybe a couple of quid? For some reason I thought it was a fixed price?

The final valuation fee is roughly £30 for a bike with a £1000 selling price? Sound about right?

Then, if you use it, there's the Paypal share.

I'd prefer an auction site but are there any other good places to sell a bike?

It cost me £8 or £16(can't remember, I think it was 16, but my invoice only said it was 8 Confused ) to list my mille with a starting bid of 3k.

The insertion fee is £8 for vehicles, IIRC.

Ive just sold the GS on there, £8 insertion fee £20 final valuation fee (bike sold for £1150) and £3 fee from paypal for the £100 deposit the guy paid.

All in all £31 to flog the bike in 3 days. On par with auto trader i guess.

Make sure you demand a deposit immediately after the end of the auction, and dont accept bids from abroad!

Make it clear in your auction what you expect from the winner and what timescale you expect it in.

Hope that helps, Tom

Did it sell and what did they charge for final valuation?

Afterwards you can select that you both mutually agreed not to go ahead with the deal and get your fees back. Get the buyer to agree to this.

If you list it under parts and accessories it will still show in searches and save you £7.50 or so.

Most people when looking for a bike will be searching under "motorcycles & scooters" to avoid hundreds of listings for parts, so it won't show up in their searches.
Also ebay will remove it if reported

just list the bike with a 0.01 starting price anyway, and say "if genuinly interested contact me, or contact me to view prior to the auction end"

hopefully a genuine buyer will contact you, asking how much, come round, buy it and pay cash, you then just remove the auction ,and dont pay ebay or paypal anything !!! Wink

if its a valuable bike, id say dont give your home address, incase you find they dont turn up,and your bike has a theft/attempted theft a couple of days later

what id do personaly, is give the addy of a car park thats close, say ring my mobile when you are there ,just to be safe

So that charge a none refundable £4 for setting a reserve, cheeky buggers! Like they don't make enough.

A reverse is pointless on a car/bike listing, just put the starting price as the least you'd take for the bike.

A reserve is just a waste of money and puts off buyers
