No I can't guess what it is just from being told 103 bhp, but I can tell you that big bore kits are usually short lived

We can't tell you if you should be wary unless you tell us what bike it is! Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Agreed but the boring out of the cylinder to fit the new liners often causes warping and heat transfer problems.

Personally i think it means - bored out to 998 getting 103bhp = hassle not needed. Especially for 103bhp

Insurance would be a pain if you are honest, or if not honest, void

Bandit 1200?

Gonna have to raise the bullshit flag on that I'm afraid, unless you can fit 'busa pistons in a 750 block. It would have to be bored to 80.8mm

Hmm, might be possible I guess (without actually knowing) with a 77mm bore 'J' block, but still would be bloody tight with marginal cooling. Boring an oil-boiler 5mm oversize won't make for a hugely reliable engine I would think.

Hi

JE make 79mm pistons for the GSXR750 which might fit, but that is going to generate a hell of a lot of heat. Given that the 750 can easily make 100hp it is a lot of effort / expense to go to for little extra reward.

Easiest thing is to just drop in a GSXR750 engine. Or a 1200 Bandit engine (a touch more difficult).

All the best

Keith
