bike stand options

I need some way of lifting the bike off the floor for when i'm oiling/cleaning the chain, checking the engine oil level, checking bearings, changing tyres, servicing forks (including removing them) etc etc.

The bike is in my sig.

I was thinking about getting two paddock stand but I'd be looking at 90 for a swingarm one and a front yoke one. I then looked at centrestands but they seem to only make them from 02 onwards (sw motech). I then thought about a scissor lift thing but I don't think there'd be anywhere to actually jack it up from (the zorsts are in the way).

So has anyone got any ideas?

Abba Stand as joe says or 2 paddock stands. You don't need a head stock stand unless you want to get the forks out, so you could just get a normal one for around £30.

Then if you need to get the forks out use a trolly jack under the headers and jack it up, or run straps down from the beams in your roof around the headstock.

pretty much all you'll need is a rear one for day to day or week to week. And ones to fit the Hornet are about the cheapest type on the market...

You will struggle to lift both wheels off the floor safely with a trolley jack. I use an excessively large trolley jack for my CBR (long-term long jobby hence why its so big ... 3 tonne.. only really need a 1 tonne tho ) Use a rear paddock stand for general jobs, and if you want to take the front off, jack under the headers, 2x1 across the jack and headers and lift the front up.... it should only lift the front end, not the rear.. it will be far too unstable to lift both wheels off the floor.

By the way you shouldnt lift the bike on stand(S) to check the oil level...

ok. Can I check the front wheel/headstock bearings without a front paddock stand?

What's the most conveniant way to check the oil on a hornet? it has no sight glass only a dipstick.

God bike stands are cheap in the UK.

One similar to the cheap one posted would cost 50-60 bucks here.

a friend bought one of those paddock stands from ebay............not long after his purchase, my services were called upon to weld it back together...................buy a good heavy duty stand, in life there are certain things you can skimp on.....................this is not one of them, if you value you bike.

Me and my friend just spent £50 on a front and rear from Demon Tweeks and they fit fine. They are the biketek ones and I've used them twice on the Hornet. The rear on is easy to use on your own and it fits perfectly. With the front I would have someone else to help but that's me being cautious.

You should be able to check wheel bearings with the stands. I'll be taking off my wheels to replace the brake pads and check on the bearings soon.

I do remember G saying that with a little bit of welding they are much better

personally i have a micron paddock stand, however if i was going to buy again i would pay the extra and buy a abba stand as already recommened, it will last a long time...........https://www.abbastands.co.uk/

Right, I'm all sorted.

Bought a set of micron paddock stands off ebay from M & P for £56.94 all in. They're one piece so no welds.

BARGAIN.
