PostPosted: 13:48 - 09 Apr 2008    Post subject: WiFi Access In France / Spain ? Reply with quote

I'm doing a tour of France / Spain in June, staying in budget hotels like F1 and Etap which dont have wifi, and as I will need to access t'internet daily I was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to access free wireless.

I'm sure most McDonalds have free WiFi over here, does anyone know if that's the case in France, or does anyone know of any other recognisable "chain" type places that have free WiFi that I could utilise?

Cheers

F1 hotels and Etap DO have wifi , you can usually see the router in the stair wells inside a glass case.

I have no idea how to access it though (and it is a pay for service) last time I was in france I didn't have a laptop though , I assume its sort of like PCCW (HK) where the access point is open but when you try to access anything it diverts you to a log in page where you acn sign up for it.

I have some leaflets at home on how to access it, tell you about it later.

Shit hot, nice one Itchy! I was looking at their websites and they didn't mention WiFi, wheras the more expensive Ibis ones did!

I don't mind paying for it in the hotel as long as it ain't ridiculously priced. If ya can find the leaflets and let me know how much they charge that would be really helpful.

It effectively said WIFI is avalible in partnership with orange, and no more...

I had a poke around orange website

https://www.orange-wifi.com/en/achat_wifi_pass.htm

says you can buy a internet pass at the reception of such places, which can be used at any Orange Wifi spot in Europe, works the same way as PCCW effectively (HK) where you open the browser connect to the WIFI spot and it diverts you to a log in page.

However at the top of the page it allows you to buy your voucher in advance, which maybe a good idea as a few hotel F1s were effectively completely automated.
