old news that has got new?

ok a while ago there were reports of a new 'safety' camera, one that is hidden in the cats eyes.

the government and local police authorities said they would not be installing these, however,talking to a friend of mine this weekend and it turns out over the last 2-3 weeks he has been installing these little bastards in and around lincolnshire, so this is where it starts.. soon they will be all over the country and you will never be able to have a good blast.

at first i heard that they would only take a snap shot of the front of your vehicle.. hehe, but now it turns out that they measure from the front and snap shot the back.

i cannot see how they can be classified as safety cameras when they are not clearly visible (ie like bright yellow gatsos) they are surely just another rape on the rider/driver. im expecting some bigger bike riders over the next year or so are going to be coming on here after losing license.

increase in sales of inforads maybe?

The cleaning bill for those things will be huge. The cameras obviously have a lens which needs to be kept quite clean. Oil, dust salt/grit and stones stuck in tyre treads will render them useless.

hmmmm I think he might be installing something else. They have cat's eyes that look exactly like that on two of the roads near me. They are not speed cameras they are self illuminating ones. They have a small solar panel in top which charges a battery that runs some bright LED's.

On unlit roads they're fantastic. Mark out the road ahead much better than the normal reflective type.
