hiya folks,
first time posting here; ive got an 82 cg125 pre japanese model with awsome 6v lights and drums front and rear. after being assured from the seller there would be no probs (ahahahahah....) ive so far replaced the exhaust with an after market from dave sivers and replaced the nonexistant airfilter. the bike now vibrates quite a bit and there is soot on the exhaust after 2 weeks of having it on. im pretty sure the bike only runs on full choke (doesnt appear to be smoking btw) but i need to know is full down on the lever on (this is the position it runs) or off. ive been told on the brazil models its the opposite so hense the question as i need to know before i start peeing about with the mix/throtle screws etc. also what could the vibes be? im guessing it might be the valves need doing posibly. the other thing is theres a small amount of petrol the leaks when the bikes off. i just turn the tap off but is this normal?
thanks for any advice guys

Choke lever on an 82 bike is up for on down for off- should have 3 settings, off at the bottom, half on and then fully on as you move it up. Mine (another '82) needs 1/2 choke to start from cold then runs fine with it off.

if it ran fine with a nackered exhaust and no air filter, then when you put these in its going to change the fueling mix drastically, get the air filter in, run the bike up through the rev range whilst on a road, if there are any 'stumbles' where it seems to bog down or hold back then keep it in that section for as long as you safely can, then clutch it in and kill the ignition and coast to a stop somewhere safe.
then post up a picture of the spark plug.
Cheers

the throttle cable comes into the top of the carb on these ones, if you look on the carb body, on the top part where it looks like a tube there should be a screw, this adjusts the idle.
any screw holding a cable (choke more than likely) is only there to hold a cable.
the pilot air screw adjusts the mixure, but only at idle speeds, this can be found on the bottom of the carb on the edge closest to the engine.
any other mixture adjustment is done by changing jets and needle height.
was it running badly at any point through the rev range?
Cheers
