Was bored last night after midnight and flicked around Sky (as you do). Came across the Travel Channel. Not been aware of it before.

Anyhow, show was 'Riding Eastern Europe'. Got the gist of a guy picking up an MZ, looks like the 1000SF from the MZ factory and then riding it. Caught the program as he was about to leave Colditz (of the PoW castle fame) and riding down to Dresden.

Looks like he's got the cameraman/sound people with him in something like people carrier but the cameraman rides pillion to get some shots.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share.
Looking at the listings there's also a show called 'World's Greatest Motorcycle Rides'. May have to try and catch that if the missus hasn't filled Sky+ up with her stuff Rolling Eyes Wink

Quote from an interview with the guy:

Quote:
Q: Isn’t it easier and safer by car?

HC: Yes and yes; that’s why this world is clogged up with them. For car drivers motorcycling is dangerous, cold, unsocial and impractical. For bikers it’s true freedom. Why? Well it’s all about being a part of the terrain and the road you are riding. It’s not about being a spectator from your air conditioned idle.

Also it’s all about the journey rather than the destination. Everything is a challenge to overcome and there’s the satisfaction that goes with that. It’s about the change of temperature, change of road surface, the smells and the challenge of a bend that tightens on you. It’s about you and your machine and no one else, no radio to disturb the moment, no passengers wanting to stop for the loo and no traffic jams to get in your way.

Motorcycling is about embracing your needs rather than your wants and I’m told that living life by that aspiration can bring true happiness!!! Don’t know whether I’ve quite gotten to grips with that though!

Motorcycling is a way of life that’s cherished by the people who love it and once hooked on this ultimate statement of freedom and personal fulfilment driving a car seems mundane and ultimately uninspiring. Go on try it - it may change your life!

Good lad Thumbs Up

Will have to try and watch it

Also saw Biker Britain at half eleven the other night (monday??) on men and motors, looked ok, although in my state of mind by that point most things were pretty entertaining.
