finally got round to fitting my hugger last night, what a mess on.

the bolt to hold the bracket on the right hand side of the swing arm couldn't have been in a worse place, eventually got this out, temporary fitted the bracket and hugger, only to find the screws i had were too short.

found some better screws, all was looking ok, so i thought i'll remove the problem bolt and replace it after relocating brake pipe holder, then i find this bold is not too short, more looking for bolts. after lots of swearing it all done.

spun the rear wheel to check all was ok, fine 1st spin, heard a strange noise on the second. due to the poor quality of the hugger it was losing shape and the chain was catching.

thankfully applying a couple of washers either side of the rear mount (chain side) the correct shape was achieved.

all in all i am glad its fitted, not looking forward to removing it again for the repair work it requires though lol.

bike is a 1999 gsx600f.

i think the hugger is a powerbronze one, bought second hand so who knows.

it went quite well except for that one bolt which is in a stupid place, short of removing the brake pipe little else would make it much easier. (possible removing the rear wheel or swingarm but feck that for a hugger)

biggest issue is the flimsyness of it.

Have to say I'm more than disappointed in my recently purchased pyramid plastics hugger on my K4 GSXR 750. It may be pleasing to the eye but it didn't really keep the ar$e end of my bike any cleaner Rolling Eyes

I bought one for the ZZR and I just couldn't get it to fit, then changed the tires, forgot to put the hugger on and then crashed the bike. So if anyone has a ZZR-600 and needs a black hugger, let me know. Wink

I've been toying with fitting a hugger to my 750F, I think you've answered my question. I shall toy no more and forget about the whole thing. Seems more trouble than its worth.

Got a Pyramid one on my GS and it keeps the crap off the rear shock as there is only a pathetic rubber flap usually to do the job. Its good quality and solid but I did buy it 8 years ago so they may have gone down hill since then.

TBH its ok now its on, but it was a feck on.

the bolt is just in a really bad place, and i couldn't see how removing various things around it would have made life any easier.

the quality of the hugger itself isn't great, but i have nothing to gauge this on till i get to my parents and check my dads huggers on his divvy and vfr.

I'm thinking of getting a hugger for my '99 cbr 600. I've had no hugger experience and was wondering what brands people would suggest? So far I've got to:
powerbronze = bad; Pyramid good build quality, questionable use.

The thing which annoys me is that all the websites tend to show generic hugger pictures.

So how have people gone about getting huggers in the past? Take a punt on ebay, go to a shop or just get one from an internet shop and hope for the best?

NWS or Red-Fox are the best quality huggers I've seen.

Be careful with NWS though as I think they sold some/all of their moulds to Skidmarx, who are on the same level as Powerbronze Brick Wall
